Y/n's POV

It was a few days before my 11th birthday. My mother and I were sitting at the table eating breakfast and talking about me starting middle school in a month or two. The kitchen window was opened slightly to let some cool air in on a already hot morning. As I was eating my cereal, a piece of paper flew at my face. Before I could react, it bounced off my head and landed in my bowl. I quickly grabbed it before it got too soaked and opened it carefully. My eyes widened as I read the wet paper before me.

"Dear Miss Stone, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31."
Signed,
Minerva McGonagall

I sat there wide eyed not knowing what to think. As I was about to say something, there was a knock at the door. I looked at my mom unsure as she got up to answer the door. I followed after her with my letter in hand. When she opened it, there was a tall thin man with a long silver beard towering over us. His face had soft features, with piercing blue eyes. They had a glint of kindness and mischief. His robes matched his eyes.

"Good morning. I am Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A pleasure to meet you Ms. Stone." he stuck out his hand, ready to shake my mother's. She slowly raised her hand and shook his. "Hello.."
she said softly. I peeked out behind her side and waved shyly. He looked at me a smiled. "Ah, this must be Miss Stone. A pleasure to meet you too my dear." he said as he shook my hand. I smiled back, feeling a bit more comfortable. "Come inside, it's too hot today to be standing out there in robes." My mother said with a more friendly tone.

As we sat on the couch Professor Dumbledore explained all about the Wizarding World. He explained about magic, wands, charms, brooms, etc. I looked at him in awe, getting more excited by each word coming out of his mouth. As he finished explaining, I turned to my mother with begging eyes. "Please mom?!" I said, in a pleading tone. She sat there for a moment thinking. "hmmm. I'm not sure y/n. What about your future and your safety?" Dumbledore spoke up. "She'll be a fantastic witch. I'm sure of it!" he said, trying to help my case. My mother still looked unsure. "What about costs? We can barely afford public school y/n." Dumbledore spoke up once again. "Hogwarts is tuition free. We have funds to help muggle-born students buy the supplies they need."

"I just don't understand how we are going to get there. London is halfway across the world. Plane tickets cost a lot of money." My face fell. Dumbledore smirked. "We have our ways, Ms. Stone." I felt my face light up. I looked over at my mom excitedly. She sighed. "I'm still not sure y/n. A letter flies through my window, an older man shows up to my house unexpectedly. I don't know if i can trust him." she said firmly. I got on my knees and begged the most I had ever begged. As I looked into her concerned eyes she gave in. I jumped up from my seat fist bumping the air.

I was going to be a witch.

This is going to be awesome.
