"The survey corps returned..."
*. *. *. *. *.
A random voice stated upon the Survey Corps arrival. My eyes followed the voice to see soldiers traveling by horse, they looked tired and hopeless. Their eyes were glued to the floor and they moved slowly as their heads hung in disappointment. Most of the men were drenched in blood. The crimson gave off an unsettling smell that made me cover my nose with my forearm. Mizuki followed the action as she covered hers with the crook of her elbow. She lumbered backward as she turned pale as a sheet. I glanced at her worry but she wavered at me off.Upon turning my gaze, I remarked the stereotypical comments that made my blood boil at the mere words. Snide remarks were constantly made about the Survey Corps, "Those bastards are useless, they only waste our taxes. " " Where does our money go? They only die anyway..." " Every motive is useless. Death is spreading rapidly among us."
Each face of the crowd annoyed me. Their words seemed to have a tolling effect on me. Bottling emotions just rapidly came out. I balled my hands into fists and clenched hard on them, trying to resurface the emotions. Failing, my eyes snapped open and my mouth opened at the same time. Strong emotions and opinions were portraited through my words,"All of you are worthless! You all discriminate soldiers for doing their work and then expect them to take care of. You all are shameless and deserve to not even be lived up to your own taxes. What about the moral of "Don't cry wolf"? You only chase the core in this wild chase to amuse yourselves, but lives are lost due to that insanity. If you really need help and call upon it, no one will be there. So I suggest you rethink your sanity..."
A man with a short stature on a black horse, peered at me with interest. The taller blonde on the white horse gave him a side look and they presumed their movement. The rest of the crowd stared at me in awe. Others had a subtle look or they gazed at the ground in guilt. The ravenette beside shifted uncomfortably and tapped my shoulder lightly. I turned to face her and grabbed her hand, pulling her along with me.
The owner of the shop gave us our purchased items we left without a glance or comment. He had probably seen the scene I made... Thanking him silently, I then made way out of the building. Mizuki tried to carry the heavy sugar on the string of her back, with most of the weight laying on her shoulder. I laughed at her antics as she tried to put on a tough exterior.
We walked down the normal path we usually took. Mizuki seemed deep in thought, I didn't question her once. I stopped walking when I heard a thud behind me. My head whipped around and I saw the girl wheezing. With concern bringing me to her side, I heard her sniffing and wiping her eyes. We just sat there for several minutes while I rubbed the small of her back. She clutched my shirt and tried to steady her breathing. I stroked her hair waiting for an explanation, she cleared her throat ," You know what you said opened many eyes..." I remained quiet and she continued," I came to realise that we need to protect everything we have and be grateful for it. The Survey Corps give a chance for civilisation and we take that for granted. I want to contribute to them, yet I don't know... Wait!! I know~ I will join the Survey Corps and bring change to humanity. I will become a valuable source!" The determination on her face shocked me slightly, yet it empowered me somehow. Taking her hand to get up, and nodded in her direction I opened my mouth, " Your right, we owe them practically our lives. Nothing more, nothing less. So I will join you to bring change. I will make my parents proud..." Mizuki just stared at me, trying not to come out harsh at the last sentence ," Your parents must definitely proud now..."
Her train of thought was interrupted when a string of voices were heard shouting. We turned around slightly to see a group of males shouting at each other. They sat under the shade that the overpeering clocktower had made. They were part of the Garasion Regiment. The idiots laughing were most likely drunk as empty bottles were littered around them. I neared them with a face dipped in disgust, the ones sitting on crates noticed me first, " Aren't you ashamed of yourselve-"
"Aren't YOU ashamed of yourselves?! You are sitting here and drinking when you should be protecting the walls!" My sentence was replaced by a boy with ruffled brown hair and deepset turquoise eyes. He clenched at his teeth in anger as he walked closer to them. I could see the spark of determination and anger in his eyes. The soldiers glanced at each other then bursted out in laughter at his antics. This only made the male more angry," Why are you laughing?! You wont be doing that when the titans attack. Why sit here when you could rid of them? Hannes...you told me so." The soldier with short, ruffled blonde hair named 'Hannes' rubbed his nape in hesitation. The raven male in the furthest corner, started his way toward us. Mostly infront of me. He cocked his head to the side, his long black hair follow with. He appeared to have a sly grin on his lips and a grimmed look in his eyes.
After a long time of observing me, he began to burst into fits of laughter. Of course this confused everyone around him as they looked at him as if he had probbed about a bad joke or like he had lost it. ," She this the carasmatic girl who believes in world fairness..."
