"Goodbye, Gran. I'll miss you!" Aurora murmured, placing a kiss on her grandmother's cheek."Good bye, dear. I'll miss you too!" Her grandmother called, waving goodbye, and walking back through the wall of platform nine and three quarters.
Aurora swallowed and looked around, tightly holding onto Quinton. The platform was buzzing, and Aurora didn't know a single person. She shyly dragged her trunk onto the train, and found an empty compartment to sit in.
Aurora only got a few seconds of peace before she heard voices outside of her compartment door. It swung open quickly.
In front of her was a slender boy, the same age as Aurora. His skin was pale like frost. His hair was so blonde it was almost white, and it was slicked back with hair gel. He wore a crooked grin on his face, and his grey eyes glinted. Surrounding him were two other boys around her age, but both plumper than Draco, and much less attractive.
"Oh, look boys. Who do we have here! A new girl?" He crowed. Aurora narrowed her eyes and grabbed Quinton to put back on her lap.
The blonde looked her up and down, pausing for a second on her breasts. He let out a whistle. "And not bad looking either. Hopefully she gets placed in Slytherin. I wouldn't mind getting to see that rack everyday-"
The blonde was unable to finish his sentence as a new voice sounded. "Shove off, Malfoy!" A boy appeared, shoving him out of the way. His hair was jet black, and rather long and shaggy. He wore circular glasses, and his eyes were a dazzling green.
The blonde scoffed. "Ah, I see Potter wants the new girl to himself! Well, might as well leave him to it. She'll want nothing to do with him by the end of the train ride." The boys and the blonde erupted in laughter as they walked away.
The black haired boy turned his attention to Aurora, and halted for a moment. She surely wasn't bad looking. In fact, she was gorgeous.
Aurora rolled her eyes as he gaped at her. She gave him a tiny wave. "Hellooooo!!" She teased.
He shook his head and blushed. "Mind if I sit here?" He asked. Aurora smiled and nodded.
"Thank you for defending me. Although, In the future, I won't need it." Aurora said confidently. "I just wasn't really expecting to be, well- mocked- so quickly."
"Oh, don't worry about it. Malfoy is like that with everyone." Harry waved his hand dismissively.
"Malfoy? What a weird name." She commented, raising her eyebrows.
"Oh, well, that's his last name. His name is Draco. He just doesn't deserve to be called by his first name." He shrugged, and Aurora let out a giggle.
"Whats your name?" He inquired.
"Aurora. What's yours?"
"Harry-"
He was cut off as two new figures opened the compartment door.
"Oh, butt off Hermione-" A red haired boy groaned. His face was scattered with freckles. He stood next to a girl their same age. She had frizzy brown hair and was clutching numerous books in her arms.
The redhead starred at Aurora the same way Harry had for a moment, before snapping out of it, as the girl hit him in the side with the book. He winced, and then asked, "Oh, who do we have here?"
"I'm new." Aurora stated, and stretched out a hand. "My name is Aurora. Aurora Windhyme."
The red head grabbed her hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you, Aurora. My name's Ron. And this here is Hermoine." He said, pointing to the girl with frizzy brown hair.
Hermione rolled her eyes and hit Ron in the side again with one of her books. "I can introduce myself, thank you very much!" She remarked, taking a seat next to Aurora. Aurora gave her a smile.
I like this girl, she thought.
"I'm Hermoine. Hermione Granger. Nice to meet you, Aurora. I hope you can excuse this buffoon." She rolled her eyes, flashing another look at Ron. Ron shot her a glare. Aurora laughed.
"So, as I was saying." Harry interrupted. "How come I haven't seen you around before?"
Aurora let out a soft sigh. She didn't really want to have to explain her back story, but she knew she had to. "I am transferring here from my school in America - Lindenwell."
"Why are you transferring?" Ron asked bluntly.
"My grandmother wanted to move back to England." She paused for a moment, and could feel the questions burning on their tongues. May as well explain it now, she decided.
"I lived here, in England, when I was a baby. Except both my parents were killed by... He Who Must Not Be Named, when I was a few weeks old. My grandmother was so terrified that she fled the country. However, she's been missing England, and now that You-Know-Who has been gone for 14 years, she thought it was time to return home." Aurora explained. All three of them looked a little shocked, and unsure how to respond.
"Well, something similar happened to me," Harry responded. "Both of my parents were killed by Voldemort too."
Aurora was taken aback for a moment. For starters, she never heard people call You-Know-Who by his real name. But also, this boy had lost both of his parents just like Aurora. Aurora tilted her head, and then it clicked.
"Oh my god, you're Harry Potter!" She exclaimed, covering her hands with her mouth. How had I not realized before? She wondered.
Harry nodded and let out a small laugh. "Yup, that's me!" He said, and waved jazz hands sarcastically.
Aurora was still a little too dumbfounded to take a joke. "Can I see the scar?" She asked, not realizing that that might have been rude. Harry nodded and pulled back his hair, revealing his iconic lightning scar.
"Wowww..." Aurora breathed, and then shook her head and shut her eyes, slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, it's just - you're like, really famous." She giggled.
Harry nodded. "Yup, I'm aware."
Hermione looked back and forth at both of them and spoke. "Enough of that. Are you excited for Hogwarts? What was your old school like?"
"I am! Although I'm nervous. I'm sure people have already made friend groups by now- it is 4th year. And my old school was fine. It was all girls, so I rarely ever interacted with any boys. Maybe that's why my interaction with Draco was so strange."
Both Hermione and Ron rolled their eyes at the mention of the boy's name. He must be a real pest, she thought.
"Anyway..." Aurora muttered, wanting to change the subject. "Is there anything about Hogwarts that I should know?"
They all nodded, and Harry answered. "Once you get there, you'll be sorted into a house. There's Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. We're in Gryffindor. It's where the 'brave and courageous' are supposed to go." Harry said, putting the words in air quotes. "Slytherin is the house Malfoy is from. They are all pretty nasty- let's hope you don't get sorted into there. But i'm sure you won't- you're too nice. Ravenclaw is where all the smarties go, and then Hufflepuff, for the kind and loyal."
Aurora nodded, taking all the knowledge in. Let's hope I'm not a Slytherin.
