Ludic Selcouth #2: This Song Saved My Life

Chapter 9

The vocalist of the popular band Ludic Selcouth, Rush Zedova, is spotted leaving a bar with a mysterious woman. It was the night of their Halloween gig in EC bar when the two caught the attention of the people in the vicinity because of how intimate they were.

“I’ve never seen that woman before so I assume that she is not a public personality,” one of the fans who were present at that night said.

The musician is known for being a woman magnet even before their debut in the music industry. The fans are continuously expressing their interest if Rush Zedova has started dating again.

I cringed with what I just read. For goodness’ sake... It’s been a week, why are they still making this a big deal? Nakalipas na’t lahat-lahat ang undas pero laman pa rin ’to ng internet?

Pare-pareho lang naman ang sinasabi ng mga fan. Sigurado raw na isa lang ako sa mga present fling ni Rush. I kind of understand why they think like that, the man is known for that. But seriously? Gagawin ba nila laging big deal kapag nakikita nilang may kasamang babae iyong tao?

It’s a good thing that I was wearing a thick eyeliner that night, plus the surroundings was bleary because of the dancing lights. I’m sure that no one will recognize me as Alectrona except to the people on the couch with us that night.

I just hope Riggs didn’t say anything to April. Well, siguro nga wala naman dahil lumipas na ang isang linggo ay hindi pa naman ulit ako kinokompronta nina Iris.

Kaya rin siguro tumatagal ng ganito ang issue dahil papalapit na ang release ng bolt-hole we have album ng Ludic Selcouth. Mas mainit sila sa mata ng mga tao ngayon at talagang big deal ang lahat ng gagawin nila.

Nahiga ako sa kama at muling naalala ang nangyari ng gabing ’yon. After he sang, reality struck me and I was so embarrassed that I immediately pulled away from the hug. Natauhan talaga ako at tuluyan nang naramdaman ang nag-uumapaw na hiya.

I didn’t know how to act around him after what happened. I was beyond thankful when he didn’t ask anything about it after I cried in front of him. He only asked if I was already feeling better. I remember that I just nodded because I was too ashamed to even speak.

Hindi na ako nagpahatid ulit sa bar dahil baka mas pag-usapan lang kami. I just asked him to take me into Mallory’s condo. Alam kong nagtataka siya kung bakit hindi ako sa village nagpaghatid. He didn’t question anything though. Hindi ko rin naman alam kung anong isasagot ko sa kaniya kung sakaling nagtanong siya.

Alangan namang sabihin ko na ginawa kong excuse ang thesis namin para makapunta sa gig nila?

I yawned as I got up. Nang tingnan ko ang wall clock ay alas otso na ng gabi. Hindi pa ako kumakain kaya napagpasiyahan kong bumaba muna.

Bukas pa ang ilaw sa living room pero wala akong naabutan sa kusina. I quickly prepared my food before sitting down.

I was busy eating when Iris also entered the kitchen. Nagtagpo ang paningin namin pero kinunutan niya lang ako ng noo. Dumiretso siya sa fridge at kumuha ng malamig na tubig. Wala sana akong balak pansinin siya nang bigla naman siyang magsalita.

“Eating alone, huh...” Palihim akong napairap. Kaysa naman sumabay sa kanila. Hindi ako nagsalita at nagpatuloy sa pagkain.

Nang mailapag niya ang pinag-inuman na baso sa lababo ay pumunta siya sa upuang katapat ko. She dragged the chair, sat there, leaned on the backrest, and crossed her arms. Naasiwa agad ako dahil nakatingin siya sa’kin. Mabilis kong isinubo ang panghuling kutsara ng pagkain at ibinaba ang kubyertos. Tumayo ako at pumunta sa lababo para hugasan na ang pinagkainan.
