So, I'm really worried that I'll fall behind with this book, but I also want to share so much about the world, so I think what I'll do is either make a new book for extras or add extras here.
Which would y'all prefer?
If I can't publish a chapter for the week, then I could probably post something less time consuming and mentally draining. It could be Q&As, fun facts, or extras regarding the current couples/ characters and future couples/characters. I don't want to leave you guys hanging week after week, but I also don't want to give you crappy chapters that are really short and just not good.
For now, though, I think I'll do a set of fun facts. If you can't tell, this week's chapter will probably be late or pushed back to next week. I'm really not feeling well mentally right now and I just want to create without worrying about a timeline or small details. Aubrey and Evander's lil' date are coming soon. So, yeah! On with the fun facts, I guess XD
1. Blueberry Scones was originally a standalone book.
So, my initial plan with BS was that it was going to be a short, cute story about a baker who can't sense their mate and how they end up together anyway. However, I apparently can't stick to plots like that because that plan quickly flew out the window XDDD
The plan got thrown out quite early, actually. I kept trying to think about how Wren got his disability. Why was he born the way he was? And that takes us into the next fun fact!
2. Wren's parents were supposed to be targetted by rogues.
With my initial explanation of Wren's circumstances, his parents had been targetted by rogues before he was young. His father was supposed to have been entangled with a group of them and when he cut ties to raise a family, they tried to kill both him and his wife, but they instead hurt Wren.
It was an iffy plan and I eventually threw it out in favor of them trying to hide his abilities, abilities I didn't even know Wren would have. I never planned on adding magical abilities with werewolves, but it ended up happening anyway lol. The idea of multiple species of non-humans was going to happen either way, though. At least, by the time I figured BS would be more than one book.
3. Aaron and Erin almost got together.
So, I noticed in BS that a LOT of people shipped Erin and Aaron together (ugh, I really wish I'd noticed sooner that their names were so similiar-sounding ;-;) and to be honest I considered it for a bit.
The scene in BS where Aaron comforts Erin was supposed to be open for me to both show their relationship and possibly create the beginning of their story together. However, I decided against that idea for several reasons:
One, if they were mates, then they would've already been together. They would've sensed each other probably right after Erin's first mate died and Wren would've never dated Erin.
Two, I really wanted to make a polyamorous relationship and I figured Aaron was a good match for it, but not so much Erin. Erin strikes me as the kind of person who puts all of his focus and attention on one person, whereas Aaron would be able to spread his love very equally.
Three, I didn't want all of my characters to be gay. And what I mean by that is that I didn't think it'd make sense if Wren, Aaron, and Erin were all with guys and Ryder was the only straight person :/
And four, I wanted to make a book just for Erin, and I will ;)
4. Character's Sexualities
So, this isn't so much of a fun fact as it is just information on my babies <3
Wren - gay
I figured Wren would be one of the few that was actually gay. Most of my other characters are pan or bi, but it just didn't seem to fit for Wren.
Joshua - bisexual
I always imagined Joshua as being gay or bisexual, but I chose bi in the end. I could see him dating a girl or two along with a guy in his past, just to get used to the idea of a relationship.
Erin - omnisexual
At first, he was supposed to be bi, but then I realized Erin would probably care about gender, but it wasn't like he didn't like them all. He has a preference for men, but he likes any gender. He'd be pansexual if he was gender-blind, but I don't think he is. His first mate was a girl, but I won't say anything about his future just yet ;)
Aaron - panromantic asexual
I already mentioned Aaron's sexuality in the prologue, but I'll put it here to be concise. Aaron shares a lot of the same feelings I have towards relationships and sex, but he's also a bit different. Still, he repsents a large chunk of my sexuality and I desperately wanted to represent asexuality in a good way. His struggle with his sexuality will pop up a lot more in this book and my only hope is that I can bring justice to what my community goes through. It's so...isolating at times when you realize you're so different from everyone. While I actually take pride in it, I know that a lot of asexuals don't, so I wanted Aaron to explore that.
Ryder - straight
I think we all knew Ryder was straight XD I never played around with the idea of him being anything else because it just didn't fit. He's the one straight friend, you know? XD
Marie - bisexual
Marie is definitely bi. I think at one point she thought she was lesbian until Ryder came along. Bisexuality isn't a 50-50 split and I think she represents that. Werewolves wouldn't date nearly as much as humans do because they have mates, so I think it makes sense that she'd realize she was attracted to guys as well when Ryder came along.
Evander - pansexual
I knew Evander was pansexual from the moment I created him. He's like Erin in the sense that they both want to love someone unconditionally, I just think that Evander's attraction has nothing to do with gender or sex (not to say that having a preference is bad!).
Aubrey - ?
I don't think Aubrey would label his sexuality. He was in captivity for basically all of his life. He never had the time to think about love or relationships, and he was never really attracted to anyone in his Home. If anything, I think he's graysexual grayromantic because he didn't experience romantic or sexual attraction until his mates showed up. Either way, he doesn't care about labels so I won't give him one.
I think I'll add more character sexualities as the story progresses. For now, I think this is enough.
5. Q & A and Requests
So, I know I don't have many active commenters and I'm not popular, but I still want to offer the chance to ask questions!
They can be about anything. This book, Bluberry Scones, the future book(s), characters, theories, me, etc.
Just no spoilers~
Also, if you want to request any scenes with couples (canon and not canon) then go right ahead!
I think I might make a blurb about if Aaron and Erin were mates because I think their dynamic is so fun anyway, but if there's anything else, ask away.
Just no smut.
I think that's everything. Thank you again so much for your patience, reads, likes, and comments. Y'all are awesome! I might come out with a blurb today to make up for the lack of chapters, but we'll see. I am being absolutely flooded with work and like I said earlier, it's taking a toll on my mental well-being. I just gotta hang in there, I guess!
I hope y'all are doing well and I'm sorry if this doesn't make up for the chapters. I swear I'm trying and I don't plan on leaving this behind any time soon.
