Nothing could amount to waking up to the snow falling so delicately on the floor with the sun slightly showing. It was Harrys favorite. Which also meant he got to go to his favorite Cafe. The cafe only opened on snow days. I guess it was what they were known for. He never knew why, because they were very popular, meaning more business if they had just opened on a regular day.Harry got his coat and boots on and hopped out the door. Very few things were making him happy these days. He took a deep breath in and thought to himself. Today will be a good day.
The cafe was one of the little things that made him happy.
It was on a very rare occasion that Harry was happy. Him and his sister barely keep in touch. They used to live together until she decided her life would be better with some italian man she had met only a month before she ran off with him. His mother passed nearly a year ago. He still feels the pain as if it happened yesterday. He took it a little more to heart than Gemma did. Of course she had been sad, but she got over the pain rather, quickly. He lived alone. He had a few friends, but they rarely kept in touch. He just finished collage, but didnt have a job cause his stepdad would give him money every month. Enough for him to not need a job. It was his way of saying "I cant be with you, but heres money as if I am."
He would chat with people on the sides of the streets whenever he'd go out, with a polite "Good morning" and a smile. When he got to the Cafe, his eyes lit up with a sparkle. He stepped inside, and strangely, there was no one really there.
"Good morning Mrs. Wilson" Harry greeted the store owner. "Hello Harry, nice seeing you again, how have you been?" She said with a huge smile. Harry looked around ignoring the last question, not purposely. "Not much people, are there?" he said. She shook her head. "Not ever since that new place opened up, just across the street." Harry looked out the glass door. He hadnt even noticed the new place. He doesnt come around here that much, only to come to the cafe.
"Well im still here" Harry said with a smile. She smiled back. "The usual please." Harry said as he sat down at his regular spot in the Cafe. There would usually be people here that he could chat with. Harry stared at the wall reading all the decorations one by one. Mrs. Wilson noticed his lonliness, considering she called for someone. "Louis! Louis come out here, theres a customer, I think you two would get on."
Harry got up a little off his seat to see who she was calling for. "Its my nephew. My sister is out of town for a while, so im taking care of him for a while." Mrs. Wilson said as she brought him his tea and biscuit. Not to long after, a boy came out from the "Employees only" door. He has hair that covered his sides and forehead. The perfect length. A red scarf with a huge sweater on. He wore them nice. The best thing he wore was that smile. His smile was very bright, and cause Harry to smile aswell.
"Harry, this is Louis, my newphew, Louis, this is Harry."
Their eyes met for a while, until they shook hands. Louis started off shy, until a little later, he was bouncing off the walls. Harry learned a lot about Louis in the 20 minutes they were together. They exchanged numbers. Before much longer, Harry could tell Louis was gonna be a bright light in his life. At least he had hoped he'd be in his life, for a while at least. He didnt want it to be that exchange of numbers just to have it in their phone, never touched or looked at after they had parted ways. Harry wasnt so sure what made him so certain Louis was gonna be in his life for a while, or what made him feel the way he did. He just knew.
The shop closed up, which then he knew it was already 3 pm. He had lost track of time with Louis. Harry always loves to stay and talk with Mrs. Wilson. Catch up on what he had missed. Throughout the whole time they were open, 10, maybe 12 people came in and out.
"Closing time boys, Louis get your stuff, Harry, exit through the back, the front doors are already closed" Mrs. Wilson said with a smile. Harry nodded while Louis got up finishing his sentence, "Ill tell you more about it later, we should watch it sometime!" and went to the backroom again. Louis was telling Harry about his favorite movie, "Point Break." "So you two got on I take it?" She asked with a smile. "Yeah" Harry said. They exchange smiles. Louis came back out saying his last goodbyes by the exit to Harry, and when Harry went in for a handshake, but Louis went in for a hug. He held Harry so tightly as if they had known each other for a while. Harry hugged back. Louis whispered in his ear, "Nice meeting you, Lad." and scruffed his curls when he broke the hug.
Louis yelled from the car, "Text me!" With his hand cupping around his mouth acting as if that would make it any louder. Harry waved back and once the car was gone, he couldnt help but blush and smile. The biggest smile he had had in a while.
And it was a genuine smile.
