I need to find the main pathway to the kingdom below...

Wondering (e/c) eyes drifted from left to right, searching for a path leading down the mountain the castle rested on. Despite the darkness of the forest you were roaming in, you're thankful that you can at least make out the immediate surroundings, albeit still limited. You palmed the trees as you carefully made your way through the forest, making a mental note to remember the path you took. Otherwise when it's time to return, you'd get lost and find yourself in even bigger trouble. Definitely not what you want, especially not now when you have bad blood with the King.

He got mad at you before but his punishments were merely scolding you or locking you in your room for the rest of the day. However, you managed to piss him off earlier this week by threatening to run away from the kingdom if he still doesn't allow you to explore your territory. You caught him in a bad mood that day, and unfortunately, you were also in a sour mood. Although you didn't actually meant what you said, the king sure as hell did when he told you that he'd have you locked in your room with no outside contact for the rest of your life as the crowned Princess. And even worse, he might actually stay true with his addition to the punishment of locking you up in the dungeon.

The thought itself made you shiver. Never in your life did you think that your own father would threaten to lock you in the dungeon. You feared that he might actually do it, yet you still went through with the plan. How foolish you were.

The long walk is beginning to bore you. You had hoped that by now you would've found the town already, or at least be there by now. And as luck seemed to be on your side, you finally exit the forest, thanking all the Gods you know. "Finally.." The words rolled off your tongue as you held out your arms beside you and taking a deep breath. You left the castle. You're outside, on your own! And in the hands of the king's mercy, much to your dismay. But this is no time to think of the King's punishment; you need to finish what you came out here for. Explore the kingdom, get to know your people, and return safely and discreetly.

Your (e/c) eyes drifted below and they lit up in an instant. The lights were a dead give away, you're close to your destination. Swiftly and quickly, you hopped from your place and bolted for the lit town in the horizon. The sooner you get there, the quicker you'll be able to finish your goal. It seemed that you ran quicker than you were used to because the moment you reached the outskirts, you were fatigued. Panting heavily and sweating. You leaned forward, bending your knees and pressing your hands on them, your frame leaning forward as you kept huffing sharp breathes. "I..I need.." You managed to speak out, "..I am not..cut out for..running."

Suddenly, kids' laughter came to earshot, followed by multitple footsteps. Pressumably chasing each other, just having fun like all children do. You instantly pulled the scarf up to your nose to mask your face, hoping that the kids don't recognize you. Three children you assumed to be around 9 or 10 years old skid to a stop a feet away from you, their curious glances staring at you. Two of them are human, the other is a monster you can't recognize but they had no arms. One of them, the tallest of the bunch, stepped in front of the other two, holding a protective stance. "If you're here for our mom's debt, then you might as well leave!" They exclaimed, their brown eyes now glaring. "You and your people are bad!"
