The dinning hall had never looked so extravagant before. Silver coloured silk hung from the tall windows, separated into two resembling curtains. Golden candle handles decorated the table alongside silverware and plates with beautiful handmade carvings. Everything has been prepared for the Prince and his family's arrival tonight.
To finalize the plans for Prince Asriel and Princess Y/n's engagement, the two royal families had planned to talk things through dinner the night after Y/n left the palace without the King or Queen's knowledge. All had been planned, set and ready to go: so when King (F/n)'s trusted Butler busted through the double doors of the mess hall with a worried and shocked expression, he explained that he saw the princess's room empty and a mess. The King rose in his seat in anger, hands slamming harshly against the wooden table. The loud thud caused the violinist to stop, and everyone else remained silent.
In a fit of anger, the King announced a search party to find the Princess. As angered as he is, he and his wife are worried for his daughter. He knew his own child and she wouldn't go through with her own threat of running away, she's far too inexperienced to escape the guards' radar anyway..right? Either way, he's sure that the princess was kidnapped. How, why, or when are still a mystery but his men will surely find out the answers to those questions.
King Asgore and Queen Toriel also showed their concern by volunteering their own men to help with searching for the missing princess.
That all happened two days ago, and still, the guards have no news of Y/n's whereabouts. The days passed and Asriel became restless, worrying nonstop for his best friend's safety. He's been asking the guards that helped with the search if they had any new information, but all he ever got was a 'no, your highness' or them apologizing for having nothing to relay. Needless to say it irked the prince, it frustrated him to no end. He had already lost his temper twice, claiming that the guards were not doing their jobs right. The first one was yesterday when they returned a few hours after sunset with nothing to say. The second outburst happened much recently, just a few hours after midday. Not only did he yell at the guards once more, he also raised his voice at his mother, accidentally. After the incident, he retreated to his quarters in a hurry.
Toriel stood outside of Asriel's door, hand hovering over the wooden surface. She debated whether or not to speak to her son or to leave him alone for the time being. It's obvious that he's not doing too well, especially with everything that's happened, but as a mother, she's worried sick. She doesn't want to see her own child hurting.
With a deep breath, she softly knocked, "Asriel? Can I come in?"
She heard shuffling from inside. A chair scraping against the floor and footsteps nearing the wooden door. Asriel opened the door slightly, enough for his mother to see half of his face. "I need some time for myself. Perhaps another time, mom,"
Toriel gave a nod, understanding her son's reasons to keep to himself at the moment.
Asriel was thankful, sending his mother a small smile before shutting his door close. He let his hand rest on the silver knob, debating whether or not to go through with his stupid plan. He's risking a lot by even considering it. He believes it's his only choice, since both search parties are incompetent.
