(I posted a joke chapter today so I figured that I would post a serious one too for those of you who just wanted to skip that one)

Satan kept wondering about how he and earth had survived god nuking the damn thing. He kept rethinking that moment after he lost Akira, and the earth pretty much exploded. But somehow earth was still in one piece. And so was he. Maybe this was just god trying to torture him. Maybe it was chance. But whatever the reason, he was alive. And so was the planet.

He picked a flower from the ground and put it on Akira's makeshift grave, sat down next to it and started talking to the "body" underneath.

"Hey. I know you can't hear me, but I hope you're okay up there. How's Taro? Is your family doing fine? What about..."  he started to get repulsed while thinking about that girl who Akira loved. He didn't necessarily like her but he choked out her name anyway.    ".....Miki..."

He continued to talk at Akira's grave. Even though he wasn't getting any response, he felt like he wasn't alone anymore. For once, he wasn't in crippling loneliness.

"𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗽, 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽, 𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗽.  𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗱𝗼. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆."  Akira thought. He was getting bored of the pristine white walls of heaven, the same people he saw every day, everything. He wanted to go down to earth, see the plants, the clouds,  hell, he missed earth so bad he wanted to see it rain more than the clear, happy, perfect sky that he saw every day in heaven. He wanted to eat something, anything, besides bread.  Maybe even a bug.

He could ask god or one of the higher-ups if he could go to earth. They would probably say no, but it was worth a shot.

He grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and wrote a letter to god's secretary asking if he could go down to earth,  just this once. Akira delivered the letter to the secretary, walked back to his room, and fell asleep, like a little child leaving a note for Santa and falling asleep so he could read it.

Just as the sun had set, Satan saw a streak of fire in the sky, like something was crashing to earth.

"Shit."
