Streets Of Hanyang
The journey back to the palace was all but quiet. The Crown Prince was consistently bombarding Doyoon with questions about his entire experience. Due to his innocence, he wasn’t truly aware of what it took to be a Gisaeng and what it meant.“Please explain it to me. I feel stupid, not knowing.” Prince Jungkook whined. He wanted to educate himself for the next time.
Yes, next time. The Prince was more than eager to return and see the capturing beauty again. He wanted to make sure he didn’t step out of line or do anything to make the boy feel uncomfortable. Again.
“I refuse, My Prince,” Doyoon answered. He did not want to give the 22-year-old Crown Prince a sex education class.
“Fine. It’s an order.”
Doyoon physically groaned at those words.
“I refuse, Your Highness. I would gladly receive my punishment. He retaliated. Jungkook only sighed before turning away from his advisor. He wished he had answers, but knew the man next to him would not give them.

Gyeongbokgung Palace
The carriage finally arrived at the entrance of the palace. The Crown Prince and his advisor descended from the carriage and headed inside. They walked to the Prince’s quarters before departing ways.
“Rest well, My Prince, the servants already prepared your bed.” Doyoon said. He gave a final bow to the Prince as he entered his residence. Soon after, Doyoon turned around and headed for his own room.
Prince Jungkook peered outside his chambers after hearing the departing footsteps. He waited a bit to make sure the coast was clear before tiptoeing away to the palace library.
“My Prince…?” The voice of the library bookkeeper called out. It was very late into the night, yet the crown prince was in the library. He was about to close up but knew he couldn’t now.
“Yes, I am looking for a certain book.” Prince Jungkook answered, stating why he was there. He looked around the rows and rows of books, but he did not know where to actually start. The books were in a peculiar arrangement, and the prince had always sent someone to retrieve a book for him.
“Is there any way I could assist you, My Prince?” Jungkook inwardly cheered. He did not know what he was doing, and assistance was what he needed.
“Yes, I need a book about Gisaengs if there’s one.” The bookkeeper was perplexed to hear that but remembered the ongoing rumors amongst the court ladies.
“Yes, My Prince.” The bookkeeper disappeared into the rows of books, leaving the Prince to himself. Jungkook scanned the room he was in. He didn’t realize how big it was. The rows were as high as the ceiling and went around the entire room. It was like a library from a fairytale.
A few minutes later, the bookkeeper returned with a few books in hand. He handed them to the Prince, telling him it was they all had on Gisaengs.
The Prince thanked the bookkeeper, who only responded with a bow, before walking out. Jungkook returned to his room immediately and began to scan the books for any information.
‘Gisaengs are highly trained artistic women who entertain men with music, conversation, and poetry. Gisaengs are members of the "cheonmin" or slave class as most officially belonged to the government, which registered them. Any child born to gisaeng is required to become gisaeng in turn.’
The last sentence dawdled on the Crown Prince’s mind. He pondered over it, yet could not make sense of it. During his visit, he had been told that the male was not a gisaeng, and yet it says any child born to a gisaeng becomes one.
After staying up and reading the other books on Gisaengs, the Prince decided to rest. Tomorrow was an important day, along with the rest of the days to come.

Gisaeng House
“Do you really have to go, Taehyung?” One of the Gisaeng girls, MunHee, asked. She had tears welled in her eyes, and she refused to release Taehyung’s bag from her grip. She was sad to see him go, especially when they had plans for today.
She had seen this handsome young scholar a few days ago on her visit to the market and could not forget him. Taehyung had agreed to accompany her this afternoon since Hoseok would be returning, and he would be permitted to go out.
“Another time, MunHee-ah,” Taehyung whispered only for her ears. The girl understood, but still refused to let him go.
“You’re still here? MaeHyang said with bewilderment. She was surprised to see her son still on the premises after she said goodbye almost an hour ago.
“Girls, let him go,” MaeHyang commanded. “He has to get going, or else it will be late when they get there. Hoseok, why haven’t you two left yet?”
Hoseok bowed in embarrassment. He tried to get Taehyung out before the girls woke up an hour ago, but he was unlucky.
“I apologize, MaeHyang-nim. I’ll get him out right away.” Instantly, Hoseok managed to Lift Taehyung up and carry his bag. It was an awkward image to see.
He carried Taehyung over his shoulder and held the luggage in the other. Everyone was taken aback by the sudden change and stayed still for a few brief seconds. This played out in Hoseok’s favor as he dashed out of the compound with Taehyung.
“Well, back to practice, everyone,”

“
Why did you carry me like that, Hyung?” Taehyung fumbled. They were currently on their way to visit Taehyung’s grandparents. They were traveling on foot, as did many others. Hoseok followed behind Taehyung as he was questioned.
“I did so to get you out of there,” Hoseok replied. He was already exhausted from his trip, and now, he had to return. He had been instructed by MaeHyang to accompany Taehyung to his grandparents. This was a literal round trip for the guard.
“Anyway, how is your family? Did you send my regards?” Taehyung asked as he switched topics. He knew his hyung wouldn’t do something that would hurt him. He had only been taken by surprise.
“They are doing well,” Hoseok responded. He patiently and quietly followed behind Taehyung, although it was a hassle. The male was easily distracted and kept stopping to observe components of mother nature along the way.
“You know, I read in a book somewhere that a nine-tailed fox lives somewhere around here. Should we try and find it?”
Hoseok inwardly sighed. To think it was the girls that would have kept them late.

Palace
“Good morning, my Prince,” Doyoon greeted with a bow as he walked into the Prince’s chambers. He was followed by the servants who carried the Prince’s breakfast.
The Prince was still in bed and refused to wake up. He had stayed up during the night reading the books from the library. Doyoon did his best to wake the prince up, and after a few struggles, he got the Prince up and eating.
The servants had left at this point, leaving the Prince and his advisor alone. Doyoon briefed Jungkook on what his day was going to be like as he ate.
As he talked, Doyoon strolled around the room at a pace. He glanced around on occasion, and suddenly, his eyes fell to a pile of books.
He had not seen them at all since yesterday. He was the one that often retrieved books for the Prince. If not, he would send someone else. However, these books were new.
