Chapter 3: The Beach House

"I can't believe that party went off without a hitch! I thought for sure the pony was gonna be a nightmare but somehow it all worked out." Mew said walking through the door of the sparcly lit beach house. He stopped as he saw Gulf standing in front of the large window staring out over the rolling surf. A far away look in his eyes.

Setting down the bags Mew walked up behind his suddenly morose lover and wrapped his arms around his waist.

"What's going on in that beautiful, wacky brain of yours that's got you so far away?" Mew asked as he kissed Gulf's neck and squeezed him tight.

"Do you ever think about how far we've come? I mean I know we don't really talk about the past but I guess seeing Zee with that little girl and Saint, being like a real family, it just got me thinking, remembering." Gulf said rubbing his hands over Mew's arms as he continued to look out at the waves with a sad little smile.

With his chin resting on Gulf's shoulder Mew considered his answer as he watched a sea bird dive into a wave and come up with dinner.

"I think about it but I don't ever let it drag me back there." Mew said as he turned Gulf to face him.

"I love what we have now and we worked hard to get it so when I think about that time I just look at you now and I let it go." Mew said cupping Gulf's cheek and placing a gentle kiss on his lips.

"Just be here with me NOW baby! Let the past stay in the past. We have this place to our selves for the rest of the weekend and I don't want to waste a single minute on anything sad. I want to spend every second of our time here making you scream." Mew growled as he bit Gulf's earlobe making him jump.

Having Zee's beach house to themselves all weekend was more than perfect compensation for helping with Mia's birthday party.

Smiling at his lover Gulf turned back to the view with a totally different attitude.

Stretching he looked out the picture window at the splash of colors created by the setting sun. "Wow look how beautiful the view is! Why don't we go for a swim to cool off." He said as if the previous conversation had never happened.
