Tessa's POV
Watching all of these couples dancing around me makes me wish that I shouldn't have let him go. I could still picture his face when I asked him to dance with me at his fath - Ken's wedding, I remember he was so uncomfortable. He stepped on my feet countless of times before getting a hang of it. Then, we just melted in each other's arms. And it felt like nothing else even mattered... that it was just us. Being here, at this wedding, I wish I could go back to that day. Where my life was somewhat steady. As much as I needed the space, it is taking every ounce of my self control not let him know that I am only a phone-call away.
"Champagne, please" I asked as soon as approached the bar. The glass that I have taken at the entrance have certainly lost it's effect on me and, I really just wanted to stay relaxed throughout the whole night. I turned around once again, feeling somewhat out of place. I looked at the bride and groom, happily going around, still shaking hands with the guests. I smiled happily at her when she glanced my way, raising my glass towards her. She mouths something unclear, probably to tell me that she will talk to me later. I walked around the venue for the next couple of hours, staring at my phone from time to time, withholding myself from even glancing at his name.
"Hey, there you are" the beautiful bride said as she approached me.
"Hey there, gorgeous"
"Hmm, you don't look so bad yourself. Good to see you out of you out of those damn yoga pants"
I chuckled, as I put my phone inside my small bag.
"So, what are you doing out here by yourself?" she asked, tilting her head.
"Nothing, just wanted to get some fresh air' I replied.
"Really?" she persisted.
I stared at her, for some reason wanting to say something more. It was killing me. Either the alcohol is talking or, I just really do want him near me. Even if it's just for a few hours.
"He's here, isn't he?" she asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yeah, just a few minutes up ahead" I replied, looking down.
She smiled "Look, I don't know the whole story. But, from what you told me, he certainly has an impact on you. Now, you have all the right reasons for walking away..."
"I did not walk away, I just needed some space"
"Whatever, my point is... you're here, he's here. Don't make it easy on him but, don't make it hard for you either. If you want to see him that bad then just go see him"
I looked away for a couple of seconds before closing my eyes and taking in a deep breath.
"I came here for your wedding. I didn't think it will be this... hard"
"And I am asking you to be here for YOU. As much as I want you to see me smash some cake on my husband's face, I want you to be happy more. I know that we haven't known each other that long but, I care about you, okay?"
"I know" I replied, smiling and wrapping my arms around her neck.
"Go... I will be sending you pictures anyways. Thank you for coming to the ceremony, it really means a lot to me"
"I wouldn't have missed it"
After we walked together inside and said our goodbyes, I walked towards the exit, taking my phone out of my bag. I send a simple text, just to see if he's awake after all... "Heyy"
Hardin's POV
My back is aching from slouching towards my laptop. It's already 10pm and I barely got any work done. I'm almost ready to just switch everything off and just head to bed when my phone vibrate. A text message, from her. "Heyy" I'm smiling like a fucking idiot as read it. We did keep in touch in the year we have spent apart, meeting up every now and then but, for some reason, this feels strange and I find myself replying back... "Hey, beautiful" Too many minutes pass with no reply and I'm starting to get agitated, maybe I shouldn't have come on too strong. But, as I was contemplating, I hear my phone ring with her photo popping up.
