Everyone stood there for a few seconds, awkward air floating around as they stared at Liam.
"Soooo...you're the famous Liam Trisha has been talking about for days now?" Dad asks stepping down the stairs and over to Liam.
"Yes, sir I am. I'm guessing you're Zayn's father" Liam says shaking his hand and Dad nods. "Its nice to meet you, sir."
"Its nice to meet you too, Liam. This is my wife, Trisha" Dad says motioning over to Mom. Mom steps down the stairs and over to Liam shaking his hand. "Hello" Mom smiles.
"Hello, ma'am" Liam greets nodding formally.
"That's my son, Anthony and his fiance, Tyler" Mom says pointing over to the two still on the porch.
"Its nice to meet you. Congratulations on the engagement you two" Liam replies looking over at the couple.
"Thank you" Anthony smiles burying his head into Tyler's neck, his cheeks burning red.
Anthony tends to get shy easily but I'm sure he'll warm up to Liam soon.
"Well let's stop standing out here and get inside! I've got a giant pot of delicious chicken and dumplings waiting for us" Mom announces and everyone nods going inside.
Liam enters the living room and looks around. He checks out the pictures of Anthony and I on the fireplace when we were little and smiles warmly. He picks up the picture of when it was Halloween. I was five and dressed as a pirate.
I sat down on the couch, "That's when I was five. It was my first Halloween" I smile at the memory and Liam looks at me and places the photo down.
He continued to study my house, "Your house is nice. Its very....homey."
"Thanks?" I raise a brow.
"Boys, dinner is ready!" Mom calls.
Liam and I walk into the dining room already seeing the seats occupied. Anthony and Tyler next to each other while Dad and Mom were at the different heads of the table. Liam and I sat by each other and Dad begins the questioning.
"So Liam, what do you do for a living?"
"I run my dad's old company. Its a PR firm, we set up and run celebrity events like red carpets, movie premieres, and parties. We recently just closed a deal with Taylor Swift. She's throwing a party for her fans and she specifically asked for me to help" Liam smiles proudly and I smile back because I admire how much he cares for his work. Wait, did I just say I admire Liam?
"That's amazing. What happened to your father?" Mom asks taking a bite of her food.
Liam tenses, "He um...he passed away last year from a heart attack" He sighs sadly, his gaze going down to the table.
And in that moment I was taken aback. I felt so sorry about Liam's loss. I place a hand on his shoulder and he jumps, looking up at me through his lashes.
"I'm sorry" I mouth.
"Its okay, you didn't know" He whispers.
We stare at each other for a few more seconds til Dad's voice breaks apart our gaze. "I'm sorry, Liam. I'm sure he was a great man. And I know he's proud that you've taken his company into your hands."
Liam looks at him and smiles slighty, "Thank you, sir."
I clear my throat and remove my hand. A silence fills the air once again but it isn't an awkward but not necessarily a comforting one either.
"So how did you two meet at Zayn's work?" Mom asks.
"I was checking some things out and Zayn was my cashier. He looked so cute in that uniform" Liam chuckles and shakes his head fondly.
