'If there is one this I learned from all this racket, it is that these kits are fish-brained!' Eclipsekit stirred at the turbulence the other kits were making. It felt like they had been playing for days, can't they get some sleep like her? It was a pleasant day, in the middle of Newleaf, and Rosethorn, a friend of her mother, Streamjay, had just given birth to three kits, and Eclipsekit hadn't slept since. 'When I get my energy back, I am going to beat the fresh-kill out of them!' After a final squeal of excitement, Eclipsekit finally had enough, so she shuffled to her paws, blinked open her eyes the color of emeralds in the sunlight, and waddled over to the other kits.
One was a very small kit, about the size of a small squirrel, with golden fur and bright blue eyes, and she recognized Dawnkit. Another kit, white with black paws and amber eyes, jumped up and down and yelled out "Your awake! Ecwipsekit's awake!" Eclipsekit softly smiled at the other kits, then sat down and gave her chest fur a lick.
Dawnkit tilted her head and eyes Eclipsekit up and down curiously. Eclipsekit locked eyes with her, and then turned her gaze over to Darkkit. He was in a crouch, ready to pounce. Eclipsekit twitched her tail and stifled a laugh at the lopsided tiny ball of fur ready to lunge at her sister.
Dawnkit was so lost in thought that she was terrified when her sister leaped at her. "Got you!" Darkkit mewed. Eclipsekit rolled on the floor, laughing.
"Fox-dung, Darkkit you scared me!" Dawnkit fussed her.
"Well then, mission accomplished!" Dawnkit rolled her eyes at sat down.
"Now, now. Let's not get hurt," mewed a smooth, milky voice. Streamjay was awake, and her soft green gaze fell over the young kits.
Eclipsekit ran to her, shouting "Yay! mommy's awake!" Streamjay gave her a lick on her head, then said "Might want to find the other kits."
Eclipsekit tilted her head, confused by what she said, then noticed the absence of two kits; Snakekit, her brother, and Leopardkit, Dawnkit and Darkkit's sister.
"Dawnkit, Darkkit, where are Snakekit and Leopardkit?" Darkkit looked at Dawnkit, and they both shook their heads.
"We don't now," Dawnkit replied. "They weren't here when we woke up." Eclipsekit was annoyed at their irresponsibility.
'Where are they??' Dawnkit and Darkkit were already turned around again, play-fighting each other. Eclipsekit shot a look at her mother. Streamjay nodded, then Eclipseshade padded out of the nursery, into a brand-new world. "Be careful!" her mother called to her before she padded out.
The sun shined bright into Eclipsekit's face, bright orange and yellow. The rock around her was wet, which was from the rain last night. Eclipsekit walked in a straight line, then stopped suddenly, right before a huge cliff. Eclipsekit's eyes widened at the sight. It was a windy day, and the leaves rustling in the trees soothed her. The pines stood tall around her, and the sky was clear of clouds. there was a river right below the cliff, flowing with fish, which she would learn how to hunt one day.
Eclipsekit turned to her right and padded up a steep cliff, loose pebble falling at her paws. She then found a hole that led to another den. Filled with curiosity, she poked her head into the cave. She heard shuffling, and then, a few seconds later, a blue-gray she-cat with bright blue eyes stepped out of the den. "Hello!" She exclaimed. Eclipsekit took a wobbly step back, her back paw touching the edge of the cliff. "My name is Minnowpaw! Oh, and you must be Streamjay's kit! Aww! Your so cute!"
Eclipsekit flinched at her loud tone, nodded and mewed "Yeah." MInnowpaw's eyes gleamed in excitement.
"Wow! I haven't seen you since you were a kit!"
Eclipsekit nodded and mewed "I- uh.."
"Oh! Uh, go ahead!" Minnowpaw took a step back and Eclispekit ran up the cliff.
As another den came into view, Eclipsekit broke out into a sprint to reach it. The slope was long and tiring, but then she finally reached it. She slithered into the cave, and sniffed the air. New smells. Eclipsekit looked around to see if anyone was there, and she spotted a black tom that blended into the darkness of the den.
"Hello?" She asked. The tom didn't move. 'He's probably asleep...' Eclipsekit bounced out of the den, but on her way out, bumped into a she-cat with flowy silver fur. "Oof!" Eclipsekit got knocked back by the impact, landing flat on her back. The cats silvery-blue eyes hovered over her, and she said
"Are you okay?"
Eclipsekit stumbled to her feet and managed to mumble a "Yeah, I'm good" before she padded out.
Eclipsekit sighed at her unsuccessful journey to find Snakekit and Leopardkit. Her legs were tired, and she felt light-headed. She was about to give up when she spotted a flash of golden fur out of the corner of her eye. She spun around, to see Leopardkit standind beside her. "Hi!" Leopardkit said, as if nothing happened.
"Leopardkit! I was looking for you!" Eclipsekit replied. She looked around, hoping to find a black pelt somewhere. "Where's Snakekit?" Leopardkit shook her head.
"I don't know.." Eclipsekit sighed, Leopardkit can never keep track of things.
"You lost him didn't you"
"I didn't lose him!"
"Then why is he not here?"
Leopardkit looked at her paws. "It wasn't my fault, okay? One second he was here, the next he's not. I don't have eyes on the back of my head, Eclipsekit!" Eclipsekit stared at her like she was starved.
"I'm sorry I.. I-"
"It's okay. I forgive you!" A smirk wiped across Eclipsekit's face.
"Yeah, but we still need to find my brother" They shared a laugh, and set out.
