Hayley's POV

Luke invited me to his place to have a movie marathon. It sounds like fun. Well, it'll keep me distracted from yesterday's new...I found out that I have cancer...The thought of it scares me but it's all for people I guess.

I knocked on Luke's door, he opened it after a couple seconds.

"Hey, Angel" he smiled. Angel was his nickname for me. He gave it to me because when we were younger, every Halloween I dressed as an angel. I just loved the costume so much. I'm not sure does he mean it in a different way now. He knew that I had a boyfriend but I liked being called that way by him. There's nothing wrong about that...right?

"Hey" I forced myself to smile.

"Come on in", he closed the door as I entered, "about yesterday..." he started looking down slowly talking.

"Don't worry about it." I said fast. I tried to take my mind of that subject. At least for now.

"How the hell am I not supposed to worry? You're my best friend. I care about you more than anyone", he stopped for a while, "this is just...so fucked up. You don't deserve this." he slowly lift his head up and locked his ocean blue eyes with my already teary ones.

"There's nothing we can do." I shrugged my shoulders wiping away the coming tears.

He didn't say anything. He just hugged me really tight. I love Luke's hugs. They make me feel safe. Like nothing bad is going to happen. But this time he can't help me. We stayed like that for a while but then he said "Let's watch some movies, yeah?" trying to change the subject.

He kneed down in front of the TV to get a box full of DVD-s "Come choose" I kneed on the floor next to him. I searched the box and one DVD caught my eye. It was called 'The Fault in our Stars'. Seems kinda girly. I wouldn't be surprised if Luke said it's his though.

"What's this?" I showed him the DVD.

"Oh" he sighed and looked down to his knees "it's...it's my girlfriend's"

"You have a girlfriend?" I felt kinda left out because he never told me about it.

"No" he said quietly, still looking at his knees

"Well the-"

"SHE DIED" he yelled and looked up, I could hear his voice cracking

"Oh", I was shocked by his response, "I'm so sorry Luke"

"It's fine" but it wasn't.

"Erm how did she die if I may ask?"

"She died in a car accident", he was just looking at the floor with no emotion in his eyes, "she was texting me while driving and she then she got hit by another car" he looked up at me "it was my fault."

"No, it's not Luke, stop blaming yourself" I hugged him, "why didn't you ever tell me about her?"

He slowly pulled away "It was a long time ago...let's just watch a movie please"

He pulled me onto the couch so we could start the movie. I didn't really pay much attention to it. I was thinking about how unfair life is. Neither of us deserve this pain. But I guess that's how life is.

Luke's POV

When Hayley showed me that DVD, it brought back old memories. I thought I could never forget about her death but then I met Hailey. We knew each other as kids but then I moved to Australia. I came back a year ago and we became close again. She never changed. She's all happy and crazy. After Emily's death I was just a depressed kid locked in his room never getting out and never talking to others. I wanted to die. I wanted to be with her. But now that Hayley's got cancer, I'm afraid I'm gonna lose her too. I fell in love with her but she has a boyfriend. I don't like him. He doesn't care about her the way I do.
