the last of the lunch competition was over once our cabin was declared winner.

"the fried rice tastes amazing, the vegetable appetizer gave a tinge of spiciness and a slight sour touch from the eggplants and pickles, and lastly the premium steak was 10000/10 - very juicy and had almost the perfect taste of a five star michelin, excellent job, eggies." son sung deuk replied, his pen finished of writing on his clipboard with a satisfied smile.

night had already consumed the daylights, saturday was a long day, and i'm sure it'll be a long night as well. it was already midnight and we had one more night hike.

it was a camp to remember. not that it's my second time camping, but it was definitely a memory to add onto my timeline. all of the campers were huddled around a campfire playing out skits.

"and the two friends lived happily ever after, of course, happy after burning down yoonwon's house and adopted yoonwon himself. make that the last three human beings alive after the zombie apocalypse. the end for the fifth time." euijoo concludes.

the boys from our class, known as "the grounders" had gotten up from the floor and back to their seats from acting as the "dead zombie apocalypse", and being the only other people standing and alive, euijoo, youngbin, hanbin, and yoonwon join the rest of their fellow brothers.

nobody was applauding, unless the fire was considered clapping as it was burning wood and creating crackling noises in the center of its hearth. the counselors walk back into the light from being hidden behind the veils and curtains of the dark. someone coughs.

"this is the last event before we all go to sleep and tomorrow morning we will clean the campsite and leave the campgrounds. one more night hike. a hike of bonding. we will use the same routes. be careful, my i-landers." bang pd announces.

"jiguem buteo, we will split your teams to your assigned station. be careful."

"yes, please, please everyone, please be careful." the rest of the counselors repeat after one another. i don't think i've had to hear so many "be carefuls" this many times. not that i actually care, but i ignore the warnings gingerly.

"last directions: only two flashlights and you'll have at least one counselor to guide your team." were the last words of mr. bang.

our cabin was sent into the parking lot, hiking down a small hill with rough wooden stairs - it was the same rocky path we used to enter the campsite. being extra cautious, with only two flashlights, and a smirking yeonjun as our guide, we were all slowly going down the steps in unison.

"jake hyung?" someone whispers.

"who?" i reply with a question. daniel was beside me. no, cowering over me with his tall height. i swear, how does he grow so fast for the fact that he's only 14-15 years old? i'm a midget.

jungwon appears beside daniel. "hyung, i'm scared."

"hee, hee."

sunghoon was beside me and jay beside him. the three of us were locking arms. "come here, you two." i advise them to lock arms, daniel in between jungwon and i.

sunghoon tugs on my arm a little harshly, causing me to be pulled closer to him. "the arm locking was supposed to be only us three. why did you invite them?"

"loser, they're terrified, don't you have any pity for them?" he doesn't say anything afterwards.

"we look like a fence."

"are you guys sure we aren't the mini wall of south korea?"

"daniel you aren't mini."

"he's a mountain compared to us."

somewhere far in the wilderness, behind the countless numbers of trees and shrubbery, tons of screaming were heard. we stopped walking. "u-uh, i-is everyone o-okay?" heeseung questions.

"jay fainted."

"i didn't, my soul just left my body, i am decomposed flesh."

"jake stop freaking me out."

"yes sir, lee heeseung." something started to crawl up my neck. "sunghoon don't try to scare me."

"what are you talking about? we're still locking arms." i turn to daniel. the mysterious crawling had stopped, leaving me in a cold sweat. daniel didn't look like a mountain anymore. in fact, he was practically the size of me - tiny, small, plump, and all the words that scream mini-sized. i would love to adopt him as my son. another wholesome baby.

"hey, why is there a red balloon tied to that fence?"

"hee, hee."

we continue to walk down the treacherous road. every snap of a twig was freaking me out, the only thing i could hear was the shuffling of feet against dirt, soft winds, and... "hee, hee." elmo laughter? "wait, guys, stop." we all halt at my command.

"what happened, jake?" heeseung asks. nicholas, who was walking in front of me, turns around to face me. his face looked so annoyed, but why would one be annoyed? in fact, i couldn't understand what the poor dude was thinking about. to be honest, he was kind of scaring me with his ._. face. i don't think he ever had a change in his expressions.

"you're kind of scaring me, nicholas."

._.

"nicholas?"

._.

he simply lifts his index finger up, pointing at something behind me.

._.

"i don't speak ._. please be more specific."

;-;

"wha...?" finally, he sighs, unlocks my arms from sunghoon and daniel, grabs my shoulders, and turns me around.

in front of me was a clown.
