"Don't worry, guys; we have an agreement with the vampire king. They won't hurt any of you." Julian reassures for the thousandth time as we all sit in his living room. Margot and I sit on their loveseat while he and Reid occupy their own sofa chairs.

"It may just be because they sensed a shift at the portal. We don't use it too often." Reid adds lightly. His wounds have stopped bleeding, and he was currently putting a wrap over the more serious gashes.

"There is a vampire king?" Margot asks, her gaze flickering between both men.

"King Nikolai, and his Queen, Giselle. They have a Prince, too, the three-year-old Klaus. I've met them twice during one of our coven meetings. He's pretty serious and closed-off, but Queen Giselle is great. She always gave me caramel candies when I got restless during the long meetings." Julian explains.

"The vampires live north from us. The king basically rules over them all, and they feed on animals to survive. Ever since the war, and the change of ruler, the vampires no longer feed on unwilling humans." Reid adds.

"What do you mean unwilling?" I blurt out. Who would willingly allow a vampire to feed on them?!

"Matrius' between vampires and humans is possible. I'm pretty sure some vampires feed on their beloveds. At least, that's what they call them." Reid clarifies, his gaze holding mine. He was a curious man and very confident. He held himself high and never stuttered.

Reid's hair was even blonder up close, and his blue eyes were piercing. He had small freckles that littered from his forehead to under his eyes. He was a few inches taller than me, about Julian's height. He'd changed into a pair of Julian's clothes once we got back to the house and now wore a white shirt with red basketball shorts.

"What's a Matrius?" Margot asks.

"Oh my god. Are we in charge of the talk?" Julian groans and falls back into his chair dramatically. "You take the lead here man, that way, you can talk from experience," Julian adds.

"A Matrius is a Caster's other half, as is a vampire's beloved and a werewolf's mate. Demons have one, too; they refer to them as soulmates. We can find ours once we turn eighteen, and the attraction is usually instant, even before we turn of age. We can tell whose our's are by their aura; you become drawn to that person as if they are your source of magic. They're made for us, well, made for each other."
