"That was so weird."

"What?"

"How Y/n was acting yesterday."

"Because you kept trying to make him do stuff he didn't want to do?"

"You make me sound so bad Kageyama!"

"You are though."

"Like you can talk!"

Hinata is behind you in the line, Kageyama already having practiced his five receives. You hit the ball up, not wanting to listen to them talking about you. You only had one more left.

Coach Ukai spikes the ball to the left, making you dive for it. "Great job Y/n." You get up, Hinata walking up. He looks at you, you looking away. You didn't want to look at him too hard right now.

"What's going on with you and Hinata?" Tanaka asks, you letting out an exhale.

"I don't like pinning up my hair." He was going to ask more, but Coach Ukai yells that you'll be running laps now since Hinata hit his five. You're thankful, slipping on your sneakers and running out the door.

"Stop running faster than me!"

"You're just slow!" Kageyama and Hinata went back and forth, the two running side by side. Wanting to get away from their yelling, you speed up in front of them.

"You three slow down!" Hinata only speed up, making you feel like you had to go faster too. "Save it for the game!" You felt bad for Daichi. None of you guys listened to him right now. You ran along side Hinata, until you noticed you two were way off course.

"Hinata!" You grab his collar, the boy stopping. "Where are we?"

He looks around. You let go of his collar. "You know..." He pauses. Spinning around to look again. "I have no idea." You let out an exhale and laugh.

"That's great." You look around. There's a boy wearing a red uniform playing a game. A cat's brushing against his leg. He has blonde hair with black in the center.

"Let's ask him for help." Hinata announces before walking over. "What are you doing?" You follow Hinata, unsure if this a good idea.

What. He was wearing a red uniform.

Like Nekoma.

"I'm," he mumbles, flustered. "lost."

"So you aren't from here?"

"No."

"Is that a cool game?"

"I'm, um, just passing time."

"Are those volleyball shoes in your bag?" You point to his bag, the boy nodding before Hinata starts talking again.

"We're in a club too!" His fingers goes under the words on his plain white shirt. "I'm Shoyo Hinata and this is Y/n!" He realizes he doesn't actually know your last name. You don't tell him. "What's your name?"

"Kozume,"

"That's your first name?"

"No, it's Kenma."

"So you're in high school right?" He nods. "Y/n and me are first years! What's your year?"

"Second."

"Oh, you're an upperclassman." Hinata smiles and you pet the cat. "Sorry."

"I don't mind, that stuffs stupid anyway."

You smile. "I agree."

"Do you like volleyball?"

"It's alright," You stand get on your knees and the cat pushes it's head into your palm. "I only play because my friend needs me to."

"What position do you play?"

"Setter."

"Your nothing like our setter!" Hinata laughs, moving forward and acting like a bear. "He's so aggressive! He's like a tiger! Rawr!" You laugh, the cat rubbing it's head against your arm since you stopped petting it. "I'm a middle blocker and Y/n is our resident bench warmer!"

Kenma only looks at you, the cat walking in circles around you before heading back to him. The cat moving between you two. "Cool."

"You're not curious?" Hinata stops smiling. "Most of the time short people don't get to be middle blockers. Like Y/n was a middle blocker in middle school."

"Not really." The cat goes back to him and then back to you. Your hands ruffling the cats fluff. "People say things about me a lot. Like, 'Why is he the setter?' Or, 'isn't the setter supposed to be the strongest player?' Since I'm not that athletic."

"I'm not that athletic either," You pipe in, standing up. "I only started playing volleyball for a friend and then fell in love in middle school." The two look at you. Neither knew that about you. You didn't know why you shared that. "I'm not in love with it anymore though," You quickly add, trying to push away bad memories you had while playing the sport.

"Do you play on a good team?"

The cat leaves you for Kenma again. And it doesn't come back so you stand up again. "It was really good and then went downhill appearently," Sounds like Nekoma. "But now I'd say we're a good team."

Hinata realizes this too. "What school do you go-"

"Kenma," A loud masculine voice calls out.

"Kuroo," Maybe this was the friend he was talking about.

"Bye guys, see you later." Kenma and the taller male walk away and you can hear their conversation as they leave. You see Sugawara coming over and you laugh.

"We went the wrong way,"

The ball was spinning in the air. Stepping up, you hit the ball over the net. "That was a great serve Y/n!"

"Thank's Hinata." You toss another ball up, ready to hit it when you see Kiyoko enter with two white bags. Not hitting the ball, it comes down and hits you in the face.

"Y/n!" Hinata shouts, helping you up.

Kiyoko passes out the jerseys, you saying "Thanks" when she hands you yours. "I'm number 10!" Hinata exclaims, voice filled with excitement. "Why does Nishinoya have a different uniform?"

"He's the libero. He's off and on the court all the time so he's hard to keep track of."

"Yeah dumbass." Kageyama adds on after you. Hinata looks at Kageyama.

"How come he's 9!" Everyone sighs, knowing this would happen.

"He must not remember," Sugawara adds making the team look at him.

"He did only see him play once."

"The Little Giant was number 10."

Hinata's eyes light up when Daichi says this, his uniform seeming much better now. "Did you do this just for me?" Coach Ukai waves his hands, dismissing that idea.

"It must be destiny!"

"Or not."

"Don't be so jealous Kageyama!"

"Why the hell would I be jealous?"

Coach Ukai steps in, speaking to the team. "When Hinata's hero played Karasuno was at it's very best. Even then we lost against Nekoma each time." You pulled out your own uniform, unfolding it. "Let's change that!" Number 13 was written in large white font with Karasuno above it.

You were number 13.
