A Lost Memory…
Liars. All of them. Those wretched scientists told us empty words of comfort and spoke of meaningless promises. They brainwashed me into thinking it was okay to be prodded by needles, hooked up to electrodes, run through an obstacle course like a mouse through a maze, and get shocked and beaten senseless with no warning. How could I stand by and let this happen, not only to me but to the other unfortunate children experiments? And even worse, encourage it? I would go in and comfort them, coaxing them into resisting less. The white demons took advantage of it and used me as their tool. They didn’t even stop me. I later realized I had just lead most of the children to their deaths, by then it was too late.
Those fools enjoyed giving torture, loved it even. You could see the bloodlust in their smiles. I saw countless innocent lives morph painfully this way and that until the scientists decided the subject was a failure and useless to their research. The poor breathing creature, begging to live, was then completely terminated.
Including me there was sixteen of us who survived the experiment survival rate of an agonizing three days and have gone through the primary testing. We were never called by names, only a series of numbers, as a way to strip us of our identities, label us as property, and… you know psychological reasons and what not. It was demoralizing. Our lives, before we came here were just a distant memory, a dream we want to go back to. I, on the other hand, was in this sterilized prison the longest, and because of the prolonged testing, my memory disintegrates in an unpredictable rate; so I don’t really know what my life was like before this. As a result, I’m writing this down. Although, I don’t think I want to remember.
Unlike the failures that suffered a gut wrenching death with or without mutating side effects, the sixteen of us are… different. For the most part, we all went through the same process (some more than others) but instead of dying or morphing we’re alive and human for the most part but we gained … powers. I still don’t understand it all.
Now we want to escape from this place for good. I mean we’ve escaped before, a bunch of times actually but with terrifying nightmare inducing consequences. But we’re not letting the past experiences keep us from leaving. The main facility is surrounded by towering buildings- where the white coated killers work on other miniscule projects when we weren’t worth their time- are surrounded by a “Great Wall” and a vast ocean. But those obstacles are not what I’m worried about. It’s the tight security system.
Luckily for me, there are a few perks for being the first successful experiment and the scientist’s pet. For one I’m able to have something the others can only dream of having… and education. They don’t teach me much but it’s better than nothing. Reading… Writing… who knew learning those unimportant tasks can change the way you see the world. For me it’s a way out.
I’m also allowed to walk around without having heavily armed guards breathing down my neck. Thanks to this, I memorized escape routes and sewer systems, armories, possible weapons in the laboratories, transportation, and most of all, the food. I even sneaked out a schematic of the whole joint and for an added bonus the time schedule of everyone on the island and supply deliveries. This and the ability to read them gave me the position of leader.
All of us formulated a solid proof plan and quietly trained our powers and self defense for weeks. They won’t know what hit them.
Now we’re ready and we’re leaving tonight…

“Thank you Audrey, I’m here live at GlobalLabs, the site of a terrible accident. Yesterday, on October 2nd, __N/A__ an explosion occurred a hundred miles off the coast of the United Kingdom where the GlobalLabs once stood. GlobalLabs is a man-made island with international laboratories that was commissioned and founded by world leaders in January 3rd, __N/A__. In order to find a way to protect the human race from the new lethal diseases that seems to pop up overnight. Bright minds from every country came to GlobalLabs to contribute their knowledge with the hope to find the cure.
“Their work was kept under wraps until they represented their findings with the world in 2042 Political World Organization meeting in the United Kingdom. The head sixteen researchers were present to make their hard work known. Their names were: N/A
“They called their project the ‘Second Immune System’ using nanotechnology to help make new and improved white blood cells. ‘This is a new age in human development that will help the world. Not only end the diseases caused by the human error of pollution but it will also end hunger and dehydration for good!’ announced __N/A__, the head scientist, ‘With your help we can make this dream possible for everyone’s well being.’
“Some people thought it was a little far-fetched. “It’s not possible,” said Dr. Rosen from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine. “Nanotechnology is too unpredictable and there is a chance for the body to reject the upgraded white blood cell. I’m just not convinced it will work.”
“There were some rumors about human experimentation but the scientists dismiss the accusations. ‘We only tried the project on plants, even though it’s designed for people think of the wonders the experiment can do on plants. It can take in more carbon dioxide giving us more oxygen! Soon we will try to test it on animals and humans. Experimenting on plants will eliminate most of the risks for people. But when we do, we will do it in the most humane way possible,’ said ____N/A____ .All of the world leaders unanimously agreed this was one step closer to the cure.
“Now GlobalLabs is deserted, no scientists are found dead or alive. No record of their work uncovered. ‘It was nothing like we ever seen,’ said an U.K official, ‘The whole island was surrounded by a soaring wall and was full of skyscrapers but most, if not all, are damaged beyond repair, the main facility is in ashes in a crater, and no survivors were found.’
“There were two thousand scientists from around the world at GlobalLabs, disappeared without a trace. The whereabouts of the project still lies in the shadows.
“And this is Kara with- Wait, a minute! What the heck is going on here! Are you getting this Arnold? It seemed to be some animals coming out of the ruble!”
“Kara those aren’t animals! We should go! Now!” screamed Arnold.
“No, we got to film this!”
“Identify yourselves!” a police official commanded as the whole squad circled around the group of unknown beings. In a split second the creature sliced him in half.
“Nooo!” Kara wailed in horror.
“Run!” Arnold yelled.
The creatures advanced them and their deaths were caught on camera with the whole world watching…
