Asena couldn't stop the smile from blossoming on her face as she saw Tormund ride through the gates of Winterfell. It felt as if a weight had lifted of her shoulders as she saw her brother embrace Jon. Racing down the steps Asena launched herself into Tormund's arms, knocking them both to the ground.
"You little shit, I thought you were dead!" the wildling woman exclaimed as she punched the bigger man's arm.
"Well, I'm not," Tormund responded while rustling her hair, letting out a loud laugh as the two sat up.
The two were getting weird looks from the people passing by, as well as their friends.
"How did you find each other?" Jon asked, looking between Tormund, Edd, and Beric.
"We met up at the Last Hearth," Edd answered.
"The dead got there first," Tormund added, Asena letting out a sigh as she realized just how close the army of the dead was getting to them.
"The Umbers?" Jon questioned.
"Fighting for the Night King now," Beric replied.
"Add them to the ever growing list," Asena commented, glancing up at the sky as a cold wind blew through the courtyard.
"We had to travel around them to get here. Whoever's not here now is with them," Tormund said, Asena glancing down as she though of all the Free Folk in the Night King's army.
Her people.
"How long do we have?" Jon asked, looking sadly at his friend.
"My guess is a lot sooner than we thought..." Asena said under her breath, crossing her arms as she looked up at Tormund.
"Before the sun comes up tomorrow," the ginger wildling answered, making Asena clench her jaw in frustration.
"Oh look, I was right," the brunette grumbled, running a hand through her hair as a feeling of dread filled her stomach.
"The big woman still here?" Tormund asked, looking around for the lady knight.
"Seriously? That's what you're thinking about right now?"

Asena stood next to Sansa as they looked over a map of Winterfell, trying to find a plan that might give them an actual chance of defeating the Night King. Markers littered the map, representing both their army and the army of the dead. The latter far outnumbering the former.
"We can't beat them in a straight fight," Jon stated, looking both at the map and the people surrounding him.
"So, what can we do?" Jaime Lannister asked, looking up at Jon.
"The Night King made them all. They follow his command. If he falls, they will too. Getting to him may be our best chance," Jon explained.
