Here's a little back story to how Scarlet was changed by hunky bad wolf, Derek. (; Enjoy!
I trudged through the fluffy white snow. The snow clung to the back of my jeans as I tried to get to class. Suddenly, I felt a tug on my boot lace and fell face first into a heap of freezing ice. The impact was strong, but I was used to it.
I had always been a klutz since I was born... It was strictly a curse... My best friend, Maggie, said I'd kick the habit as soon as I got to college. She was dead wrong.
Ever since I got to the University, I had been tripping on and hitting everything. I was used to being the girl no one wanted to be around. I was always too damn quiet. Having asthma didn't help my cause either.
When I lifted my head away from the huge ice block, I noticed red liquid dripping on to it. Where in the world was that-
Holy crap.... that's my blood! I needed a nurse and stat. Being the socially awkward person I am, I started hyperventilating as soon as some students entered the campus anxiously staring at me... Not a single one helped me. Jerks. I slowly got up, trying to get my inhaler out of my bag. Front... nope....Back... No.... middle?.... My hand searched and searched. Nothing. I came up empty handed. Wait.... Pockets! I shoved my hands into my jean pockets... Still nothing. Great. I was going to die in the snow.... Alone and cold.
I already knew I was going to die. There was no use in fighting it. My breath was ragged and I was gasping for breath. My body was becoming numb. My face was probably blue... I felt something warm wrap around my waist and placed me on something else that was warm. Anything was warmer than the ground.
"Shh, just breathe deeply," a deep voice whispered into my ear. I did as I was told. I felt the stranger begin to lift me up and walk. The last thing I remember before my world went completely black was the warmth of my savior and his tender embrace.
. . .
I woke up with something soft wrapped around me. I snuggled deeper into the sheet, savoring it's warmth. My body wasn't cold anymore, but something felt off. I opened my eyes and tore the sheet off of my body... I was naked... Whoever rescued me had taken advantage of me in my ill state. What kind of sick person would do that?
"Don't worry, nothing happened and I seen nothing. Your clothes were soaked and I didn't want you catching a cold," a voice as smooth as silk rang through the room. My head whipped straight towards the source of the voice. A tall silhouette lined the torn door way. The door nearly stood on it's hinges, unable to fully detach from the house.
"What am I doing here?" I said quietly. My voice squeaked. I was able to fully take in my surroundings. The walls looked burned and it was completely crisped. The only light that poured into the room was by a window to my left.
"I found you..." his voice was calm and it drew me in. I was mezmerized just by his voice.
"Step closer... I can't see you..." I sighed. I was way too scared to speak at a normal volume. He obeyed and stepped into the gleam of light that came in from the window. I had to look away before I died from just looking at how beautiful he was. His black hair was glistening in the daylight, his strong jaw set in stone, slight stubble lined his jaw... This man was absolutely gorgeous, even though he seemed a bit rough around the edges. Yet, he looked oddly familiar. I was panicking. Why did he kidnap me? What was his motive? Was he going to kill me? All of these questions ran through my mind. My body started to hypervenilate.
The man threw something in my direction and I caught it. My inhaler. How did he have this? I quickly took off the cap and put the opening up to my mouth, pressing down the top and pushing the fresh air into my lungs. What a relief...
"I found it a few inches after you fell down. You should be more careful. It could have been someone dangerous that could have gotten to you," he smirked as he came closer. His smile was as gorgeous as the rest of him. Blood rushed to my face and spread to my chest.
"Ho- how do I know you aren't dangerous?" I hiccupped. He sat down beside me softly, grabbing my chin and looking into my eyes.
"You don't."
I couldn't believe this. This man could kill me, yet I was still alive. "What do you want from me?" He looked quizzically at me, raising one eyebrow.
"What if I said I could take all of this away?" he questioned, taking my inhaler away from me, then he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. His simple touch gave me the shivers, an electric shock.
"What-"
"All the people making fun of you... the asthma... the problems at home... I could take it all away, Scarlett," he whispered to me, playing with the hem of the blanket wrapped around me.
"How?" I simply asked. His eyes bore into mine again with a sinister smile on his face.
"With one, little bite, I could take it all away. You would never have to see any of the people who harrass you every day. You wouldn't have to have these panic attacks... this constant worry as to why you aren't good enough. Just one little bite and everything that makes you upset could disappear." His offer sounded so tempting.
"What... What are you?" I said, leaning into his touch. Never has a man been so close to me. I was in pure awe as he stared at me like I was a goddess.
"Have you ever heard of lycanthropy?"
"Yes, werebeasts, right?" I said, starting to get a little scared. He nodded his head. I was taken aback... Yet, his offer was enticing. I couldn't dare skip out on an offer like this.
"I will take you in as my own beta. Train you.... love you..." he carried on, grasping a piece of my hair and pressing his lips roughly against my own. The feel of his lips on mine sent shocks through my body until I grabbed his hair, tugging slightly as he pressed his tongue against my bottom lip, asking for entrance. I allowed it and our tongues fought for dominance, but he won. I didn't mind at all. His lips felt amazing, as well as his tongue. His lips parted from mine when I needed air, and he started to run his nose along my jugular vien. I moaned slightly, unsure of what to do... I had made up my mind.
"I want the bite."
