So I said there would be weird stories and I'm holding true to that by telling y'all about some of the strangest or even creepiest dreams I've had that I dont understand.
This dream begins and I'm sinking in this river, fish swim past me and I can see the air bubbles from the oxygen escaping my nose and mouth rising before they pop. Eventually I feel my back hit the riverbed and know that I have reached the bottom, however even though I can tell I'm far below the surface I can see above the water as though I was just barely below it. Fish occasionally swim past as the sun sets and the moon rises, this time passing continues with day turning to night and night turning to day never stopping. I can see, hear, and feel everything as if I was just calmly swimming through the water. Seasons start to change spring turning to summer, summer to autumn, autumn to winter; yet I remain the same still. Around the middle of winter when the surface of the river has frozen my body begins to rise, breaking through the ice one I reach the surface. I pull myself up so that I may sit on the edge of this perfectly oval hole in the ice my legs still in the water, but my body completley dry. The surroundings are different to me as though something has changed. I cant remember well enough to know what exactly has changed, but something has. I stand up on my feet, walk to the bank of the river, and walk through this forest as though I had done it a thousand times before. I dont stop this trek even as night turns to day, I dont stop for twelve days, i just continue never once feeling tired, hungry, thirsty, or even cold. My bare feet never turning blue despite the snow I'm walking through. After twelve days I reach a small house with a willow long since encased in ice. I go to the door and know on the dark would before staring at the wrought iron handle. When the door opens it is a woman who simply looks at me before moving to the side making a motion with her hand inviting me in. I walk through the door avoiding touching the iron door handle and find myself soon in a sitting room with a fire pit in the floor to warm the room. The woman follows soon after in entering the room she takes a place upon a seating pillow before indicating one across from her a small table in between them and a game resembling chess upon it. Each playing peice was a crystalline humanoid and each one was carved with their own look of pain fill horror, what they were scared of I didnt know, but I felt as though I had been the one who made them make suck blood-curdling faces. I take the place she indicated before moving what would have been a pawn in a game of chess. We begin playing the stange version of chess before she speaks in a language not existing in this realm but one I know clearly in this dreamscape. She asks me what took me so long to wake up this time, and all I say is that I was resting before I ask where the others are. She answers my question with a look of mild annoyance before returning her gaze to the board and saying, " Mother passed the year you fell asleep, father the year after, the youngest has finally married, and my son became king. You have slept to long and I fear the world is not the same, something in the air itself has changed. You would do well to return to the river and not return again." All I do is look at her before saying myself, "That is the reason I returned. You and yours have held steady to your end of the deal, thus it is time for me to hold true to mine. I returned because it is time for things to begin anew once more. My end of our little bargain promised that you would be the only one of your bloodkin to remain and to lead those that I create. I have only come to tell you to go to the ruined village and set the great well ablaze. Only then can what needs to begin truly begin." The woman nods her head before asking how long she has to reach the well, I tell her no more the first harvest of the season. With one last move her king falls and the only peice remaining is the queen. I stand and begin to leave the home before turning and looking at her and saying, " Never put iron on your entryways again, my queen." With that I leave the home, return to the river, and sit on the bank and wait for the well to be set ablaze. The dream ends with that and I am in my bed with a nagging feeling that soon times will have to change again and that I must find my queen to inform her.
