Before you get mad at me, things could have ended a lot worse. That's all I'll say.

Tubbo opened his eyes quickly, gasping. He looked up at the sky, noticing that it was darker out. He must have fallen asleep.

Off in the distance, Tubbo noticed there was smoke.

"Perhaps someone is camping."

Tubbo hopped down from the tree, slowly and carefully making his way to where the smoke was coming from.

Tubbo hid behind a bush, peeking out, he saw Tommy and Wilbur sitting by a fire. They didn't notice him, and Tubbo let out a quiet giggle.

He waited for hours, but that didn't bother him, he didn't even notice. He was too focused on waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Once the fire went out, Tommy and Wilbur were asleep.

Tubbo grinned, stalking forwards. He approached the sleeping Tommy, and with one swift movement, Tubbo was soon dragging Tommy away, his hand over his friends mouth. "You have to be quiet, Tommy!" He whispered.

Tubbo's tone sent chills down Tubbo's spine. He tried to get free from Tubbo's grasp, but Tubbo held onto him with some inhuman strength.

They reached a pool of water, and Tommy gasped when cold water surrounded him. Him gasping, caused a bunch of water to make its way into his lungs. Tubbo gripped onto Tommy's neck, staring down at him sadistically.

Tommy's eyes widened, ignoring his stinging eyes. Trying to cough the water out only resulted in him inhaling more water.

Tubbo allowed Tommy above the water for a moment, letting Tommy cough for a few seconds before pushing him under the water again.

In one last act of desperation, Tommy used his legs to kick Tubbo. Tubbo didn't seem phased.

Tommy slowly accepted his fate. He was going to die at the hands of his best friend. Tommy closed his eyes tightly, not wanting to see Tubbo like that any longer. He silently hoped that Wilbur noticed he was gone.

Tommy opened his eyes again, finding himself laying on the ground. He was out of the water. He coughed up water, and gasping for air. He looked up to see Wilbur trying to keep Tubbo pinned to the ground.

Despite how weak he felt, he rushed to help Wilbur. Wilbur reached up and tore the mask off of Tubbo. He gritted his teeth, instinctively snapping the mask in half, hoping that will end everything.

Wilbur was so, very wrong.

He froze when he heard laughing from behind him. Quickly turning around, Wilbur managed to duck just in time when Dream slashed his sword.

Tommy jumped out of the way, "Whoa!" He yelped.

Having both Wilbur and Tommy off of him, Tubbo stood up, breathing heavily. He reached for his own sword to help Dream. He targeted Tommy, racing over to him, Tubbo tried to stab Tommy through the chest.

Wilbur acted quickly. He avoided another attack from Dream, and ran after Tubbo. Wilbur tackled Tubbo down.

With everything that happened during the past couple of days, Tubbo's body was starting to give up. Everything inside him short circuited, and Tubbo fell unconscious.

With Tubbo down for a little, Wilbur and Tommy could focus on Dream. He was strong. Like, wicked strong.

Every blow that Wilbur blocked from Dream was a lot. He lost his balance multiple times. "Tommy-" He dodged another blow. "-I need you to stay with Tubbo, please."

Tommy hesitated, but went to his friend. He dragged Tubbo away from the fighting Dream and Wilbur. "Tubbo, please." He whispered, shaking Tubbo. "We need you.. the real you back." He held back tears when Tubbo still didn't wake up.

Tubbo found himself in an empty room. He sat on a chair, staring blankly at the wall in front of him.

Someone else was there. They stood behind him.

Tubbo could hear them trying to talk to him. He couldn't quite make out what it was but once sentence stuck with him.

You can still stop this.

Tubbo's eyes slowly opened. His vision was blurry, but he could just barley make out the image of Wilbur laying on the ground, and Dream standing over him. Tubbo was still too exhausted to do anything about it.

Dream turned to face Tommy. He held out his hand, a dark energy swirled at his palm. "Hold still, kid." He said.

Tommy stared at Dream, frozen in fear. There's nothing that he could do to stop this, so he just closed his eyes and waited.

"Not going to fight this time? Good choice." He focused the energy, it swirled faster. Aiming at Tommy, he unleashed it.

You can still stop this.

Suddenly filled with adrenaline, Tubbo rushed to his feet, shielding Tommy from the attack.

Dream watched this. He didn't expect that to happen. He watched Tubbo for some sort of reaction. "Are you just going to stand there?"

The dark energy swarmed around Tubbo's mind. All he could hear was Dream's voice, telling him to do several things.

"Finish Tommy."

"Get rid of him."

"Stay with me."

Tubbo shook his head, "No.. I can't." He gripped onto his hair, trying to silence the voices. Tubbo grabbed his sword, and rushed over at Dream. He stabbed the sword through Dream's chest.

Dream stared down at Tubbo, amused. "You're the first one to resist that." He said. "I must say, I've never met anyone like you."

Tubbo dug the sword deeper into Dream's chest, "Leave..."

Dream went quiet, and then he grinned. He disappeared in a puff of black smoke. Tubbo panted heavily, staring down at the broken mask at his feet.

Wilbur coughed, sitting up. He was covered in injuries, but his focus was on Tubbo. "Tubbo..?" He called out to the kid.

Tommy got to his feet, going over to his friend.

Tubbo continued to stare at the mask, until his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell to the ground.

Wilbur gasped and got up, "Tubbo!" He panicked, shaking Tubbo to try and wake him up.

Tommy came and sat beside Tubbo, "Hey! Tubbo.. you saved me..!" They received no response from Tubbo. Tommy shook his head, "W-Will.. we have to take him home!"

Wilbur hesitated. He was quiet for a long moment, "Yeah..." He picked Tubbo up, carrying him on his back. He and Tommy walked back to their base.

Everything hurt, but they tried to ignore the pain by focusing on Tubbo. When they got back to Tubbo's house, they laid him down on his bed.

Tommy turned to Wilbur, "What about that mask..?"

"Leave it there.. It's for the best if we just leave it alone." Wilbur advised, and Tommy nodded.

They sat at Tubbo's bedside, waiting for the moment when he'd wake up, but that moment never came.

"No!" Tommy screamed, "No, he can't be gone! You're lying!"

Wilbur rested his hand on Tommy's shoulder, "Look, I tried everything I could. I don't know what that thing had done to him but there's nothing I can do."

Tommy shook his head, violently and pushed Wilbur away. "Bullshit!" He shouted, before rubbing off. He ignored Wilbur who was trying to tell him to come back.

Tommy ran and ran, until he fell to his knees. He stared down at the water in front of him. "Please.." He sobbed out, "Please bring him back! I know you're still out there!" He stared out into the distance, "Bring him back!"

"Only if you do something for me, in return."
