Hello my darlings! Thank you for waiting! I know that some of you are eager to see what happens next. I don't own anything but my OC. Warning: This chapter is a little dark. You'll understand why when you read it. Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We decided to order Chinese takeout since we're still exhausted from today. I swear, our boss was doing this on purpose. But I don't mind a good challenge, it keeps me occupied. I took a nice hot shower to relax my muscles. After I got myself dried, I put on my cozy pajamas.
(Picture this in any color that you like.)
I quickly put my chocolate brown hair in a braid as the door rang. I paid for the delivery since Anita paid the cab. Anita was sitting on the brown couch with grey slacks and a soft blue t-shirt. Perdy quietly ate her food from a bowl. You know, for a sweet dog like her, I'm not surprised that she would behave like a lady. I sat on a chair next to her as I draped a soft blanket over my legs. I sighed blissfully as I start eating my noodles, silently aware that Anita was looking at me.
Anita's POV:I watched her silently as she eats her noodles, remembering that day she moved in.
I was cleaning my apartment for Christina when she moves in today. I was so excited to have her as my roommate. We got along so well, we were practically sisters. The rain was pouring down like cats and dogs. I hoped that she had an umbrella with her. As I was setting up her bedroom, I heard a gentle knock on the door. I quickly walked over to the door.
"Christina! I'm so glad that you made it-," I gasped in shock at the poor sight in front of me.
Christina Jones, drenched from the rain like a wet dog. Her clothes were dripping on the floor, already making a puddle. The only thing she had with her was an old, worn grey suitcase.
But that wasn't the only thing that shocked me. When I looked at her face, she had a black eye and a split lip with some dried blood remaining. Tears were streaming down her face, her lips quivered as she was trembling. I saw how her eyes were filled with pain and fear. Who would ever dare to lay a hand on her?! There were so many questions I wanted to ask, but something tells me that she's been through a lot. The only thing I could do is open my arms wide. She ran inside and hugged me so tight, she thought I would disappear. I hugged her back to ensure her that I'm here. A tear trailed down my face as I held her tight.
That was the last time I saw her cry. After I got her cleaned, I lent her my clothes since hers was soaking wet. As I tended to her wounds, she told me everything about her past, and we agreed to keep it between us. But I would find her eyes looking distant from work or home. Perdy and I tried to bring her back before she hurt herself. I know that I will get married someday when I find the right guy, but I don't want to leave her alone. I suggested she go on a few dates, but I found her home early and her answer was the same: "They only love my looks, not my brains." I hate how those men treated her like she was a trophy instead of a human being. I tried to have her see a psychiatrist for help, but she would not budge. I smiled gently as Perdy laid her head on Christina's lap, watching as she pets her head gently. I pray that someday, she would find a guy that understands her and would keep her safe.
Y/N's POV:I knew why she was staring at me, and I knew that she would move out one day when she finds a husband. I may be selfish, but I don't want to lose my big sister.
"Something on your mind," Anita asked.
"Just another crazy week as usual. I swear Cruelle gave us twice the work!"
"Yeah, but it pays the bill."
We both nodded in agreement. Every other week, we get paid a decent wage. We covered our bills, and we still have plenty of money for food and clothes. But we always save our money for the future.
"Have you... ever thought about trying another shot at dating," she asked. I scoffed as I looked away, and said, "why bother? The results would still be the same."
"Now (y/n), I know that look on your face. There's another reason you do not want to do it, right?"
I sighed as I knew she was right. She was waiting for me to answer. I took a deep breath and said:
"You knew my past since the day I moved in. After what happened to me, I'm afraid that if I told my secret, he would treat me the same!"
I hugged my knees close as Perdy whimpers in concern, "I don't want to end up hurt again!"
Before I knew it, I was hyperventilating, which rarely happens unless fear kicks in. Anita quickly hug me close to her as I clung to her for safety. I took deep breaths, and after a few moments, I felt calm but tired. Anita spoke to me softly like I was a little girl:
"It's ok Chrissy, the past is in the past. He can't hurt you anymore. You should have seen how you handled yourself when Cruelle challenged you with new projects. I have seen your work, and I saw how passionate you are when you create your design. If you can take on our boss, you can take on the world."
I laughed quietly when she mentioned Cruelle, but I knew that she's not wrong. I've grown used to his temper and challenges and if I can handle that, I can take care of myself. I hugged her tight and whispered: "Thank you, big sis." She smiled and squeezed back in response. After that little episode, I felt drained and wanted nothing but to sleep in my bed. I wished Anita a good night before I went into my bedroom next to hers. We had a door set between our rooms in case I had a nightmare. I rarely have them since I told her my past, but it can still happen when I least expected it. My room was a little messy with a few clothes on the floor. But hey, when you work all day, you're too tired to clean up. I was able to afford a queen-sized bed with a dark mahogany bed frame. The details were carved beautifully.
(Picture the walls in a different color than pink. LOL)
There were cream-colored sheets tucked in before the main covers set on top. I had a decent-sized closet and a small vanity. My white nightstand was placed on one side next to the outlet to plug my iPhone. After I brushed my teeth, I turned off the lights and slipped under the covers as Perdy hopped onto my bed. She settled down next to me before she fell asleep. I smiled softly and said, "good night, Perdy." As I slowly drifted to sleep, I believed that tomorrow was going to get better.
But little did I know that tomorrow was going to change my life forever.

Done! This is longer than I thought lol. Anyways, I want to let you know that there will be dark moments later in the chapters. I'll have the next chapter done next week! Until next time, my darlings!
