The girl in the white gown shot up from the bed with a loud scream, possibly waking up the whole hospital ward. She didn't stop screaming even as nurses and doctors poured into her room, one after the other.

Two rooms to the right a young raven haired boy opened his eyes at the familiar voice and jumped up from his bed without a second of thought.
His bare feet hit the cold tile floor and his head started spinning at the unfamiliarly quick motion.
The boy ripped out the IV puncturing his arm and stormed out of his room, towards the sound of screaming going on.
At the door he collided with the other boy, who nodded as a greeting before the two boys rushed inside.
The young girl had stopped screaming but was now covering away from the doctors in the far corner of her small room.
"Come here, darling," A large man approached the girl and gently grabbed her arm to which she responded with another deafening scream and a series of desperate kicks.
The raven haired boy pushed the grown men out of his way aggressively and the other one followed, both driven by their by now natural instinct to protect the girl.
"You can't be in here!" The doctor protested "Get these boys back to their rooms! Nurse!"
The raven haired boy fought of the army of doctors that was trying their best to restrain him while the other boy slipped past them to comfort the girl.
"Amara," The boy leaned down and took her hand in his carefully "Breathe."
Her eyes widened when she saw him, the first familiar face she had seen since she woke up in this strange room and she wrapped her arms around his neck desperately.
"What happened?" She whispered as he engulfed her in his arms "Where are we, Pac?"

An ice cold wave of water splashed in his motionless face which was pressed against the wet sand and stirred him awake from a dreamless sleep. Before he was fully awake another wave of salty water hit him and and his face stirred up in disgust.

The boy stumbled across the empty beach, his ears still ringing from the crash.
On the other side of the beach a small group of young boys had already found each other and it seemed like more boys were coming out of the woods.
Some were limping, others bearing small injuries from the crash and bleeding slightly.
The boy from the beach joined the others on the grassy patch in the shadow of a large tree and rested his head against the strong trunk.

"How many are there?" He asked, out of breath. "We dunno," A younger boy said "I've seen 'bout five."
"Where are we?" A small scrawny boy asked "What happened to the pilot?"
"Plane crashed," Another boy shrugged "We screwed."
"We're gonna be fine," The boy from the beach rubbed his aching temples "Crap."
"What's yer name?"
"You can call me Pac," The older boy answered "We're gonna have to get everyone together, figure out what to do and stuff."
The younger boys nodded and followed Pac out of the shadow and to the beach.
"Collect sticks. We need dry wood and some stones too. And some damp leaves."
"For what?" The scrawny boy asked.
"We're gonna build a big fire, if anyone else survived they'll see the smoke and come here."
The boys did as they were told and soon Pac was lighting a huge bonfire which would be visible from miles away.

It didn't take long for other survivors to find them and they all gathered around the bright fire that light up the black of the night.
"What's your name?" Pac nudged the scrawny little boy who had been following him around like a duckling.
"Lucas," The little one answered shyly and Pac offered him a reassuring smile.
"What a scene," A raven haired boy with a smug smile entered the circle of boys and pushed a younger boy off to make space for him on a log."Hey! Don't do that," Pac helped up the younger kid named Tim and patted his back "What's your name?"
"Atom," He nodded at the other boy "You?"
"I'm Pac. And you're already getting on my nerves."
"Poor you," Atom frowned and then broke into a taunting smile.
Pac rolled his eyes and turned to look around.
There were about 10 boys sitting around the fire, it seemed liked no one else was coming so he clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Hey! Listen up!" Pac yelled "I know we're all scared and confused but we need to start figuring some things out before we go to sleep."
"What happened?" A younger boy called "Where are all the adults?"
"We don't know," Pac announced, his confident voice ringing out from all the others "For now we gotta assume that we're the only ones that survived."
"We're all gonna die!" A little boy cried out.
"We're not gonna die," Pac held up his hand for silence "We need to get it together and make some plans for how we're gonna get through this, but we can do this. Think of it like camping," He shrugged "It's just all a big adventure." He crunched down in front of the little boy and nudged his arm gently "It's gonna be alright."
Of course, Pac had no idea if what he was saying was true.
All he knew was that these little boys were scared and one thing his father had taught him was that fear was what got you killed in the wild.
"Don't you just make everything seem wonderful?" Atom rolled his eyes "Stop lying to them, this isn't a funny little adventure, mates. We're stranded on a fuckin' island."
"Fear doesn't help us survive. Ideas do. So if you have any, do tell," Pac answered "Otherwise be quiet."
"Alright then, chief," Atom saluted Pac with a taunting grin.
"We need to have a chief," Paul, a boy around Pac's age said suddenly "Someone to lead us."
"Him," A small and fat boy pointed at Pac "He's already doing it anyways."
"Alright, let's vote, okay?" Pac proposed "All in favor of me being the leader raise your hands."
Most boys raised their hands, except Atom and two others.
"Okay then, I guess," Pac smiled "I'll do my best."
