Pac let Amara down gently and offered her his arm for support.
"Thanks," She mumbled and the little group walked to the bonfire where the rest of the boys were waiting.
"See! I wasn't lying!" Ben gestured wildly around "I told you!"
"We got it, mate," Pac said "We shouldn't have doubted you."
Amara glanced around the group unsure.
She had gathered as much before but now she was certain that she was the only girl.
"Guys, this is Amara," Pac introduced her to the group "She was in the plane crash too but she's got amnesia," He glanced at the brunette girl, unsure if he was supposed to tell everyone "And she hurt her foot back there so we're gonna need to help her out for a while, alright?" The boys all nodded, staring at the girl.
"You must be hungry. C'mon, I'll get you something to eat you can sit down and rest," Pac offered her a kind smile and disappeared into the cave while Amara hesitantly sat down on a log next to Atom.
"Not as scary as you thought, huh?" He raised his eyebrows, grinning.
"What?" Amara frowned.
"Well, you did run away, didn't you?" He shrugged "Did pretty boy over there scare you? Or was it the overwhelming sense of too much testosterone in the air?"
She rolled her eyes and chuckled slightly.
"I wasn't scared."
"Liar," He snorted.
"I panicked."
"A little," Atom teased "I get it. Pac's quite hideous."
A hand smacked Atom's head from behind and Pac appeared with an apple and a raw piece of meat.
"What'd you say about me?" He nodded at Atom, the red glim of the fire in the dark making him look even broader and more intimidating than before, though his chocolate eyes exposed him and Atom knew he wasn't actually angry.
"Only good things, mate. Isn't that right, love?" He grinned at Amara who rolled her eyes smiling.
"Yeah, only good things," She smirked.
Pac knew she was lying, but he liked the way her face light up when she did, so he let it slide.
"Here," He threw her the apple "I'll grill some meat. We hunted this morning."
"Thank you," Amara smiled and bit into the apple.

"How's your foot?" Pac sat down next to her.
"Hurts," She shrugged "Guess that's it
then," She joked bitterly.
"What?" He frowned, confused.
"In the movies, the person who's hurt always dies."
"Ah that's bullshit," He waved it off "Alone, maybe. But we'll help you. And you'll get better in no time."
"Yeah.." She nodded absently.
"Why did you run?" He asked, after a moment of awkward silence.
She shrugged.
"You didn't exactly look very friendly."
He chuckled.
"I'm sorry if I scared you."
"Ts alright," She mumbled.
"And you don't remember anything from before the crash?" He looked at her with specks of pity in his eyes.
"There's like flashes," She threw one leg over the log so that she was facing him "I remember a girl. I don't know who she is, but I think she was on the plane too."
"Maybe your sister?"
"No her skin was much darker than mine, I don't think we're related. Her name is Lucy, I think."
"Hmm."
"Pac?" She chewed her lip and he looked up "Why were we all on that plane?"
He sighed, this was the question he had been dreading.
"We were evacuated.. God, how do I explain this.. Well, there was a war going on but it's over now. At least that's what they said. We were on our way back home to London.
Her eyes widened.
"How could I forget a whole war?"
It was a strange and inexplainable feeling, not being able to remember.
"The memories will come back.. I'm sure."
"Maybe.." Amara nodded, though Pac knew she didn't believe this, he didn't quite either.
They sat together, staring at the fire in silence for a while.
"What was your life like?" Amara asked "Before all this?"
He chuckled.
"I'm from London. I got an older brother, he's been gone for a while though," His smile fell "He was sent to Poland."
"So he's a soldier?"
Pac nodded.
"I wanted to volunteer too, but my mom would've chained me to the house if I tried," He rolled his eyes.
"Sounds like a smart women," Amara smirked "War's crap. Nobody wins, ever. Not really. All you get is death and destruction."
"Yeah.." Pac nodded.

"I don't wanna talk about war," Amara said "It's too depressing."
"What do you remember, other than
the girl?" Pac changed the topic.
"Nothing much. Now that I know about the plane crash, I think I remember sitting there with Lucy. But other than that... Nothing."
"But you do remember like maths and that stuff. Like you know the basics?"
"Yeah, it's not like that. I know stuff but I can't remember where I learned it. I just know. Like I know the tube stations in London. But I don't know where I was going to when I was using it. Like I don't actually remember being in there? If that makes sense."
He nodded in thought.

Pac was on guard first and he sat down on the cliff right above the cave opening and looked at the splashing ocean waves.
There was something so calming about this, he thought.
Nothing but the sounds of nature surrounding him.
No cars,
no drunks screaming outside his window, just the waves and the jungle.
The stars and the moon lit up the night sky more beautifully than Pac had ever seen and he couldn't tear his eyes away.

When the moon was starting to disappear he woke Ben to be on guard next and laid down in his place.
Ben though, wasn't very good at guarding, much like Pac he got distracted and didn't even notice when Amara limped out of the cave at sunrise.
