Reader x Finan

Finan P.O.V

He was biting on a little straw, laughing as Osferth got on over what he had to do when they arrived back home.
'I will be glad to have a decent bed again.' Sithric noted.
'And a wife to squeeze close.' Finan reacted.
'Don't squeeze too hard Finan, we won't want yours to break.' Uhtred said from in front of the group. Finan pulled the straw from between his lips and threw it away, laughing. After weeks away he would be glad to see you again, to curve his hands around your stunning expressions and to smile on your smile. His attention slipped as they rode out of the forest towards the familiar walls of Uhtred his current home.
'Home sweet home.' Finan smiled. But the smiles died as some smoke rose up out of Cookham. Uhtred looked over his shoulder to Finan who took this instant look like an order. He asked a lot from his horse in these last moments until he arrived at the village. Houses were smoking and Finan looked aside to Sithric who had joined him.
'Finan, where is Uhtred?'
'What happened?' Finan asked Gisela as soon as was within sight.
'We got attacked.' She said. For a second his world stopped as he looked how Uhtred came from his horse and hugged his wife into comfort.
'How long ago?' Uhtred asked her.
'Couple of hours, it were danes. They took some women, Hild, Y/n,' He heard the words as his body got from the horse and he started running.
'Y/n!' He yelled. He ran over to the house, the door kicked in, blood drops on the floor. She wasn't there.
'Finan!' Uhtred grabbed him by his leather armor the moment he got back out.
'She is gone.'
'We gonna find her, I promise.' Uhtred promised him before turning around. 'Get everybody together.' Uhtred commanded.

Finan sat silently on his chair, looking into a cup while he thought about you. What would they do to you ... beat you, rape you, use you ... murder you. Every thought was worse than the one before that. He hardly listened to what Uhtred was talking about.
'If Bloodhair took those women it's only payback for what I took from him.' He explained.
'Do we know where he is?' Sithric asked.
'I send a rider behind them, he would return as soon as they settled for the night.' Gisela said with a concerned look at Finan. He looked up, giving her a fast thankful smile as his eyes wandered back down into the fire.
'We ride as soon as we have news. Finan,' Finan looked slowly back up to the lord. 'she is a fighter, you know that, wouldn't be the first time she kills a dane.' He tried to be in a way supportive. Finan nodded, thinking back on the time he met you for the first time. You fought your way out of harassment, you could do it again.

Reader P.O.V

It was cold, not only the winter bite down but your heart did too. It felt empty, hollow, would this be the end?
'Stock them here!' Somebody commanded. The only thing you heard was the sounds of cries around you, sniffing children, scared women. You tried to look around in the darkness, to an abandon half-standing castle as they pushed you down a hall, into a little dark room. No windows, nor any other escape. They pushed you all in there and the only things that kept you all warm were the body temperature of being packed so closely.
'Let's pray.' Hild said from beside you. You looked aside, trying to see her but it was nothing more than a little wind passing by. You reached your hand out and she grabbed it, chains cluttered on the movements. You let your head rest against her as your lips started praying to the lord. The only thing you thought of other then God was Finan, who would be out there, maybe searching, maybe joking on his horse without knowing your faith. For all, you knew they wouldn't return for days. Yet prayer made you a little calmer. 'How is your leg?' Hild asked. It hurt, but not as much as the cold did.
'It will be fine.' You muttered. 'It will be alright.' You repeated to the others. 'They will come for us.' You promised. But was that even a promise you could keep?

It was somewhere along the end of the night that you scared up from hard far distant noises.
'The Lord has heard our prayers.' Hild said from beside you. You weren't such an optimistic Christian, to be honest, all you could think of was what if that were just more Danes? But as the sound moved closer you recognized the sound of steel against steel, the rumbling sounds, and grunts. There was a fight going on. But with only darkness, there was not much more to go on. It went on for some time before everything just died away. It became completely silent and you squeezed Hild even stronger.
'Start looking for them.' You heard a commanding voice. You looked aside to Hild even when you couldn't see her.
'It's the Lord Uhtred.' You whispered. Everybody got up, hopeful to be found in this dark pit of emptiness.
'Y/n?'
'Finan!' You yelled back. You moved over to the door, hardly being able to stand properly, banging your fists against it as the others started making noises too. 'Finan!' You yelled again.
'In here.' The sounds were closeby and it didn't take long as the door got forced open and a strand of light blinded all of you. You squeezed your eyes shut, holding your arm in front of it to break the light as somebody pulled you from your spot.
'Y/n,' His strong hands got hold of your face as you opened your eyes softly.
'Finan,' your voice shook as your tears started rolling down. He wrapped his arms around you, holding you as tight as you loved it while you cried against his neck. It was happy tears, tears that only he could provoke.
'I'm here.' He whispered. You pulled back, stroking your hand along his cheek before you pressed your lips onto his, feeling the salt taste of your tears. He loosened his grip to run his hand over your hair as the pain in your leg started demanding attention. Finan was immediately alarmed by your shift in movement. 'Are you hurt, what did they do?' He asked. Somewhere along with his voice, you heard his anger, what meant his bloodlust for whoever did this wasn't filled yet.
'My leg, it's nothing. Finan, I'm fine,' You pushed his head away from looking down until he looked back at you. 'I'm fine.' You repeated. He let that long sign go, almost like he was relieved for the second time as he kissed your forehead. He pulled you into his arms, carrying you out of that abandoned castle back to the horses. You saw Uhtred standing, his sword coated with the blood of his enemies. When he saw you a smile came on his lips and Finan stopped for a second.
'Good to see you Y/n.' Uhtred spoke.
'Thank you for coming.' You whispered. He just nodded before looking up to Finan.
'Bring her home, take care of her.' He said with a compassionate brotherly voice.
'Thank you, my Lord.' Finan nodded respectfully as he walked further and your head rested against his chest again, tired. The wounded all got onto a horse or were carried. Finan lifted you onto his horse and got up behind you. He wrapped his hands around your waist while taking the reins. 'Let's get you home.' He whispered, leaning his chin against your shoulder to look at the road. You looked a little to the left, to the concentration all written over his face.
'I'm fine.' You whispered again.
'You give me quite the scare.' He confessed. You let your head hang back, nuzzling your nose in the crook of his neck as you closed your eyes again.
'I'm safe, I'm fine.'
