Chapter Eight

Demi's POV:
I woke up alone in a dark room handcuffed to a radiator. My head is pounding as I look around the room to familiarize myself with my new surroundings. The room is dark with a single light bulb in the room and no windows. I try to pull my arm from the radiator testing how tight the handcuffs are. Unfortunately, they give no room for me to try to slide out. I hear movement from outside the room and quickly pretend to be unconscious.

I hear heavy footsteps walk toward me, and the overpowering smell of men's cologne and cigarettes.

"Jeez, she's still out huh? Did you give her too much chloroform?" an unknown male voice asked.

"I gave the correct dose. Give it another hour, I guess. Look Carlos, I covered my end of the deal. Can I have my money so I can leave now?" a second male asked Carlos.

"Yeah, fine. Here" Carlos replied and I heard two sets of footsteps leaving the room.

I felt a hand touch my check and I couldn't help but flinch at the contact.

"I knew you were faking, Demetria" Carlo said in an annoyed tone.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Because I love you and we belong together. Now if I have to keep you here against your will to show you that we belong together, that's just what I will do."

I glared at him and did not reply. All I could think about was if Simon and Max were okay.

At the hospital:

Simon's POV:

Max is recovering in a room across from me and I can't believe he got shot. I'm also extremely worried about Demi, and I'm waiting for the cops to update me.

"Mr. Cowell?" a nurse came into the room calling me.

"Yes?"

"Your friend will be alright. He has been stitched up and should be cleared out of here in a few days. The police are here to speak with you, and you are clear to leave the hospital" the nurse replied and left.

The cops entered the room.

"We were able to pull the CCTV footage from the parking garage and have tracked down Carlos's rental car, which gave us an address. We think he might be keeping Demi at said address"

"I'm coming with you, please"

"Fine, but you stay in the car."

We made our way to the address Carlos registered at the car rental place.

I waited in the car while the police surrounded the house and also entered.

I am not normally a religious guy, but I prayed that Demi would be ok and unharmed.

After what felt like hours, they returned with Carlos in handcuffs and Demi.

I rushed out of the car and ran to her, taking her in my arms.

"Simon!" Demi exclaimed while hugging me.

"Are you okay, baby?"

"Yes, how is Max?"

"He will be fine, don't worry. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you. I love you."

"I love you too, Simon. Now let's go home, baby" Demi replied kissing me on the cheek.

Two weeks later:

Demi POV:
It's been a crazy two weeks, but everything is getting better now. Max is at home and healed. I am so thankful to him for always protecting me. Simon has been acting a little overprotective since Carlos kidnapped me, but I can't blame him. Today, the judge will declare whether Carlos is sent to prison or a mental institution.

Simon and I are sitting in the courtroom waiting for the judge to read the decision.

"Hey Demi, I'm sorry I couldn't have been in the garage with you when Carlos took you." Simon told me sadly.

"Hey, don't say that. I love you and you're my hero, Simon. No dwelling about things that are out of our control" I told him and kissed him.

The judge announced that Carlos has been declared mentally unstable and was sent to a mental institution. I'm just glad that this whole nightmare is over, and Simon and I can live happily ever after.
