The snow crunched as you ran. Your H/C hair flying behind you as you ran. You stopped for a moment to catch your breath. Small white clouds of air forming in front of your face.

After a moment of you catching your breath you continued to run. You had to get to the house before dark. Or your parents would lecture you about how it was " to dangerous" just because a few skeletons would come out.
You knew you could take care of yourself. Your mom had been training you for fighting ever since you were 12.
It was mostly your father who worried. He was kinda overprotective.
But on the other hand your mother is pretty free spirited.

You soon got to the house and slowly opened the door trying to not make any noise. Once you got inside you closed the door and took off your olive green winter coat and hanged it up nest to the door. You looked around the house but all you found was a not saying that they had to go to town to get some things.
Since you all lived pretty far from anyone it took 3 hours to get there and if I was correct they should be coming back in a hour or so.

You where about to walk back to your room when something cought your eye sitting on the table.

It was a picture of you and your parents that was taken when you were 6. You noticed the brand new frame and glass that had been replaced. Your dad had talked about fixing the broken frame from when he accidently knocked it over when he ran into the table you could still vividly remember it.

You were playing next to the couch while your father had been making lunch and had started to set the table.
Once he was done he looked over to you.
"Y/N can you go get your mother? He asked while turning around. You stood up and started to walk to the front door so you could just call out from the door.
Your father then turned around and hit his hip on the table. He let out a string of curses. You then watched as the picture of you started to fall and shattered onto the ground. Your father then mumbled something along the lines of. " Damn glass."

You smiled and started to walk to your room.
You entered your room.

The room was covered in posters and quite a few shelves that had books all stacked on top. Your parents always seamed to bring a new book everytime they were out. You honestly love reading fantasy, adventurer, and your favorite,
Romance.
I know for a person who lives in the mountains with her parents, you just love romance.

You picked up a book from the shelf the title reading.

Harry Potter and the sorcerer's Stone

It had been a while since you had read a Harry Potter book. Sure you had read most of them. You hadn't read the last one yet. You walked over and sat on your bed laying down you opened the book and started to read.

You don't know when but next thing you knew you heard your bedroom door opening. Along with whispering voices.

" Hey you still up?" A voice asked you sat up to see your fathers figure standing in the door frame.

" Well im up now." You said while wiping your eyes. " How was the town?" You asked before your dad could respond your mom came into view snow still resting on her orange hair. Her arms holding a small box.
" The town was good." She then held up the small box. " Got you a little something." You father kind off lightly elbowed her in the side. " I mean we got you something." They both walked over to you. You stood up next to the bed.
Your mother handed you the small box.
The box was a light brown with a yellow ribbon. It was big enough to hold in just one of your hands. You smiled at them and took of the ribbon and opened the box.
Siting inside was a item that confused you.

A compass

You looked at your parents confused. Why would they give you a compass?

Your parents looked at each other and smiled. Your mom looked at you with a smile.
"Well," she started. " We figured that now that your 18th birthday is a week away, we want to take you on a adventure."
You could feel the biggest smile come onto your face. You quickly hugged them both repeating thank you and I love you guys.
They hugged back while laughing.

Man life in the Mountains is pretty great.
