"you bubble wrap my heart
and all the things i used to be afraid of suddenly disappears"☁︎
A tormenting week had passed and not a single word exchanged between the two prior to Haru's accidental confession. Her heart misgave at the feeling of uncertainty. Silence continued to gnawed her insides. Each time she attempted to tune out the feeling of embarrassment, the memory strikes her back like heavy repeated blows, only getting heavier.
On the upside, this was also the first time Jaehyun had asked her out. Perhaps, for the most part, the rationale to why she was present here today was because she yearned for some sort of closure.
Haru reevaluated. Was it a stretch to consider this as 'being asked out'? Surely, the absence of his friends could be an assuring indication. That said, many peculiar restrictions and instructions come in hand.
Meeting at some sketchy alley? Close to midnight, what an odd timing? Oddly persistent on not dressing up?
Her eyes narrowed down to her attire as she checks herself: white oversized tee paired lazily with grey sweatpants. Is this really okay?
She adopts a change of mind, her train of thoughts slipped into the brighter possibilities as to why he has yet spoke on the matter.
Could it be that he is inexperienced? Haru snorted as the snarky comments came flowing naturally, as if on queue.
All things considered, I guess he's just poorly inclined to love. At least that'll ought to explain why he's been alone all this while. There's got to be something off putting if you can't get anyone with that face...
"Haru, we have to go!" Jaehyun appeared abruptly by her side, breathless. Haru jumped slightly as she was brutally knocked out of her consciences.
"Have you heard of a clock? You're 15 minutes late. The decency to text me would be highly appreciated, ya know? God, I could've froze to death waiting for you out here!"
"And don't tell me you're wearing that... mask..." Haru's shrewish words transitioned into a nervous mumble as she eyed him more attentively. Even with the cap on, the pool of sweat on his forehead could not be dismissed. Sprinting here due to his tardiness was likely albeit he wasn't merely panting, he was partially hyperventilating.
"Hey," She spoke slowly, timidness bearing in her small voice.
"You're not okay, what's going on?"
His piercing eyes never left hers, the reflection of panic and desperation became pronounced as ever. Despite so, they were begging for trust, that no matter the measure of how things are about to escalate to, she will be safe with him.
Without saying a single word, Jaehyun wasted no time and grabbed her hand. Before you knew it, they were on the run.
☁︎
Still practically running for their lives, Haru glanced behind her shoulder and caught sight of a pool of people hunting them down with massive complex-looking filming equipment in their possession. The excessive glares from the flash photography further horrified her. Her emotions were in a muddle. Unsure if her adrenaline rush was due to their unknowing cause of flee or because in an alternate melodrama universe (preferably one where she was at ease), her heart would combust at the fact that she was now holding hands with the guy she adored. Humorously enough, she figured that this was not the ideal situation to be admiring the latter.
