Disclaimer: I don't open Pitbulls and Parolees - the show belongs to Animal Planet. I only own Josie and her storyline. This is a fanfiction meaning that Josie isn't a real person - she is fictional. King is also fictional - he is not a real dog. Recap: I only own Josie, her storyline, King and Nolly (who you are about to be introduced to). Nolly IS a real dog, she is actually my dog in real life.

On with the story!

Last time: They wanted me to come to them but after a week of me not saying anything and new bruises appearing on my skin every day they knew they had to step in. I was cleaning out King again when a shadow fell over the kennel...

Josie's POV:

I was cleaning out King again when a shadow fell over the kennel. The door to the kennel opened and I turned around quickly to see who it was. Standing in front of me was someone I had never wanted to see again. It was one of my mum's ex-boyfriends Roger who was one of the more violent men that she had dated. He was also one of the men that had joined in and enjoyed beating me. My mum had broken up with him after he went a step too far. While hitting, kicking and verbal abuse was ok in my mum's book sexual abuse was not. Roger had tried to sexually abuse me but thankfully my mum put her foot down and threw him out of the house. It was one of the only times she had helped me.

And now here he was standing in front of me. "Well well well what do we have here, if it isn't little Josie Knight. You owe me for making your mother break up with me" he said. I backed up and put my hand on King's head, I managed to spot that the door was open. "Leave me alone, I don't owe you anything. King run! Get help!" I shouted. King bolted out of his kennel and towards the house. I ran out of the kennel trying to get away from Roger but he was quick to catch me.

"You little shit!" Roger said before he punched me in my stomach. I fell to the ground and he started kicking me over and over again. I tried not to cry out in pain. I tried to focus on King, had he got to Miss Tia? Had he found someone to help? Roger kept kicking me and verbally attacked me. That's when I heard it barking and not just any dog's bark, it was King's! It was close and it kept getting closer, King was leading someone to me! The blows kept coming and then they stopped.

Roger was being pulled away from me by some of the nicer parolees. "Josie! Are you okay? Someone get mum! Call for an ambulance now! Josie, can you hear me? It's going to be ok, you're safe now" I opened my eyes to see Moe kneeling beside me. "It hurts" was all I was able to say in return. "I know Josie but it's going to be okay now, we're here, we've got you" this time it was Kanani who spoke. It was then that Miss Tia arrived, "Josie! You're okay, the ambulance is on its way. We're going to get you out of there" she said kneeling down next to me. One of the parolees suggested moving me but Miss Tia was quick to tell him that you should never move a patient as it can cause more damage and possibly spinal injuries especially with injuries like my own.

The police were first to arrive and Roger was arrested and taken away to one of the two police cars that had arrived. The car he was in left while the other one stayed. The ambulance arrived a minute later. Tania was quick to lead the paramedics over to where I lay. My head was in Kanani's lap who was helping to keep me still (this is actually important in first aid - keeping the injured person still helps to prevent further injury). The paramedics took over and they quickly decided that I would have to go to the hospital. I tried to tell them that I couldn't as I had no money to pay for it but they said I had to go. I gave in and allowed them to take me. The last thing I saw before they shut the doors was Kanani holding onto King.

I spent the next two days in the hospital getting treated for my injuries. Miss Tia and her family came to visit regularly. My injuries revealed the truth and extent of the abuse I was suffering. I knew that Miss Tia and her family were going to have a lot of questions for me. It was on the second day I was in the hospital that I decided right then and there to tell them the truth. When they came into the room, I knew they were going to ask the question - why didn't you tell us?. It was Miss Tia who asked it.
