8 months later

"Come on Princess, you can do it" Her grandma said in a bit to calm her. Kehlani took in deep breaths, thinking of all the possible ways to help herself.

She was too young for this...

"That's it baby, deep breaths, you ready ?"

She nodded unsurely.

"Push" and she did just that. Over and over again , squeezing her grandfather's hands until she felt the release she yearned for and above all,

The cry of her baby.

"It's a boy" Her grandma whispered giving him over to her .

She didn't want to hold him. She was scared she'd do something wrong and hurt him. What if she held him too tight and killed him, what would she do then?

Seeing the uncertainty, her grandmother brought him closer to her.

"Hold him princesse, it's okay"

With shaky hands, she took him. She was in awe at the creature. How was it so cute, beautiful and perfect when she wasn't?

"You did it princess, We're so proud of you." Her grandma whispered, placing a kiss on her head.

" You now have two things to take care of. Yourself and your son. You bore him and gave him a chance to live, even though the circumstances were different" she looked up at her grandfather as he spoke

" This little guy is proof that there is a rainbow after the storm and we want you to always remember that. Hope and faith will never fail a soft heart Kehlani, it will never"

" Hale"she said as she looked at her baby.

" Hale Clyde Monroe"she looked at her grandparents for approval with which she received the biggest smiles ever. She had given him their surname, they deserved it.

The baby too seemed to approve as he cried louder

"Oh dear, we better get him cleaned up and clothed.

Her memory would never fail her of this very special moment.

"Ma, pa ?" She called

"Yes dear?"

"Merry Christmas"
