The sidewalk was crowded. People were in a hurry to get to the bus that'll take them to their desired location. Kehlani however, didn't desire going to the tall white building in her line of sight. The smell of the lemon made her scrunch her face.

They really needed to choose some other scent

She thought.
The eyes of the receptionist followed her until she entered the elevator.

This is nice.

She thought as she got out of the elevator. This hall smelled like flowers and cake. A combination that made her tummy rumble. She ignored it and gripped her bag tighter, taking the seat beside the door she would soon find herself in.

She brought out her sketch book, pen and headset in a bit to distract herself.

She mindlessly drew and lost track of time until the door abruptly opened with an angry teenage girl screaming so loud that she heard it over the music.

When she was done laying every cuss word in every language she could think of, she walked away stomping rather loudly.

She figured that was her cue to go in. She gently opened the door more and saw the young lady sitting in her chair with her head in her hands.

She cleared her throat making the woman look up. A smile gracing her features.

"Oh hi dear, you must be Miss Monroe" she asked, getting up.

She nodded, her anxiety wouldn't let her speak.

" Please come, come in and have a seat"

She hesitated a little. After a while, she convinced herself and took a seat.

"Good morning, I am sorry for the delay. I'm Mrs Scilia and I'll be your therapist and counselor. I'm hoping we'll be able to work together as we go on?"

The room was closing in on Kehlani. Her knuckles were white from so much clenching and her breaths weren't calming. She tried to give a reply but her state wasn't allowing her and the doctor seemed to notice. She rounded the table to her, she had seen these signs so many times that it was almost as regular as breathing with every patient.

Most of them had been due to patients explaining their problems, others had been when she asked them deeper parts of the story but this?

This happened because she tried to express herself.

"Deep breaths  miss Monroe" she did just that

"Just like that, now massage your fists with your thumb, gently, yeah just like that"

Her heart no longer pumped like it was. She shut her eyes tightly and released a deep breath.

"Here, drink some water"

She declined, she had brought her water bottle and didn't trust her.

"Okay, are you ready now or you want to reschedule?"

"I'm  fine" with a gulp, she answered with an inaudible voice.

" Okay"she rounded the table to her seat and pulled out her file where she'd record all the answers and evaluate her progress from time to time.
