"You be careful now."
Waking up at the the first light wasn't easy since she would wake up later, however, there's no telling how the snow would act. Gathering her items and fixing her hair into a bun, Natsu was ready to go back home.
"Okay." She replied as she started to walk on the direction of her house. Humming a lullaby, Natsu went up the mountain with a happy expression on her face. With the money that was made, it should be enough that big brother doesn't need to do another trip. She thought as she made conclusions in her head.
Yet unbeknown to her, her home would be a house when she arrive.
Because whenever happiness is destroyed, there's always . . .
Pausing for a brief moment, an metallic smell had entered her nose. Closing her eyes as she took more sniffs, she tried to identify the unpleasant odor. Widening her eyes, she gasped as she put a name to the smell.
"The smell of blood!"
Rushing up towards her location, she gasped as her irregular breaths were increasing. Running towards her home, she couldn't help but think of the worst case scenarios. Spotting the small mountain of wood, she paused as she took in the sight in front of her. Her irregular breaths kept increasing as her mind was still processing what was in view. Nezuko and Rokuta were laying on the white snow that had been stain with the crimson blood. Yet what scared her was that they were motionless. But it wasn't real right...?
Her eyes slowly widen as she finally understood the scene. Letting out a choked scream, she quickly tugged off the empty basket. Darting forward towards the bodies of her siblings, she quickly crouch down and with shaking hands she called out. "Nezuko! What happened? What's going on? What happened here?"
Turning her head to face the entrance of her home, Natsu couldn't help but have fear coursing through her veins. An horror expression came on to her face as she saw the rest of her family. Blood covering the walls and the floor, her beloved family with emotionless faces, and the strong odor of the metallic smell shoving their way into her nose. Leaning on the door way for support, she took in the horrific view that filled her once warm house.
"Mama... Hanako..." her eyes shifted to her brothers "Takeo... Shigeru... Tanjiro..." once more looking at her siblings that were next to her, she called out to them "Nezuko... Rokuta..."
Her trembling hand touched Nezuko, quickly retreating her right hand, a glimpse of hope shot through her. Her body is still warm! Natsu check to see if Rokuta still had warmth, to her horror, he wasn't. Sprinting inside, she rapidly checked her other family members. Mama and Hanako don't have any! Moving to her brothers, her hope was thinning as Nezuko was the only one with warmth. However, to her joy Tanjiro's body was still warm. I can still save them!
Natsu quickly pulled him out of the house and carefully placed him besides Nezuko. I can't carry both of them. If I take one and come back, the other wouldn't survive. Her thoughts circled around as she looked around for her to use. Her eyes stumbled on the cart that was use for transportation. The cart!
Yet there was another problem, the snow. If she were to take the cart, the wheels would only sink in and get stuck. Coming up with a solution, she quickly got the hatchet and unsheathe it and ran towards the cart. Swinging the weapon at the the small gap between the wheel and the board, she used her full force to separate them. Using another hit, she was able to get the first wheel off. She made her way to the second wheel and was lucky that only one swing did the job. She sheathed the hatchet and wiped off the snow that was on the cart.
Not caring one bit of the cold, Natsu wipes off the snow with her bare hands. She pulled the cart over where her siblings were and carefully put them onboard. She took off her haori and placed it on top of the elder sister and brother. Placing the hatchet in her side, Natsu began to pull the cart down the mountain. I'll save you guys! No matter what happens I'll save you!
