Kenma woke up to the smell of eggs and ham drifting from the small stove were Hinata was watching the food as he chopped up some mushrooms. He hummed quietly to himself as he dumped the mushrooms into the pan and straightened some clothes that were drying by the fireplace. "Good morning! i didn't know what you liked to eat so i just made something simple, but if you don't like it i can make something else for you."

"This is fine, thank you Shouyou." He took the plate and stayed sitting on the bed curled in the blanket from the cold room. they ate in silence, Kenma slowly nibbled on the eggs while Hinata practically shoved it down his throat. "How long until the snow clears enough for me to go home safely?"

"Well if you were going to walk there it be about six months, but i can probably take you in about four to five months. I'm lucky there was a break long enough for me  to come down and get you, but getting back up here was rough- i'm surprised you stayed asleep the whole way here."

"That's a long time, is there no way to go earlier?"

"Its to dangerous to go down the mountain, even for me now going out is a risk. unfortunately i have work that needs to be done so ill have to leave after breakfast, while i'm gone feel free to do whatever you want. But if someone comes to the door that's not me don't open it. We both know that other Tengu and bakeneko don't always get along." he instructed pulling his coat form the rack after he put his plate in the wash basin. "Food is in the cabinets, extra firewood is in this box and extra blankets are under the bed. i know your coat isn't built for the cold, i can take it to be lined if you'd like- friend of mine is really good at making clothes." he was about to refuse but he shivered as the cold drifted past his thin shirt. he curled closer together and nodded shortly, "Alrighty then! i'll take it to him now so it'll be done today." Hinata takes the coat and pulls a blanket from under the bed.

he wraps the blanket around Kenma's shoulders, not noticing the blush that crept up the boys face at his gentle touch. after making sure the blanket was tight Hinata slipped on his boots at the door and took his goggles from the shelf to put over his eyes to block out the raging snow. "I'll be back in a couple hours." he called, heavily shoving the door open against the harsh winds. he used his wings to block the snow from coming in as he stepped out and closed the door with a small wave.

Kenma let out a breath as he sunk further into the thick comforters to block out the cold. He had some fur but it wasn't very thick and he was super sensitive to temperature- although its mostly the cold that bothered him. The way it made his hairs raise and nip at his sensitive ears making him shake like a leaf was awful. He much preferred the warm weather back at his home, tear pricked his eyes as he thought of Kuroo all alone for the next couple months. Having been best friends since childhood made them practically brothers- he was going to come with Kenma to get the flowers but he too was struck with the illness just before their departure. and was forced to stay by their chief even though he didn't have it very bad.

But now he's stuck here, in this little hut, a few hundred miles away from his home and few friends with a Tengu he's only known for less then twenty four hours and will have to get along with for the next few months. The more he thought about the more it made his head spin as he sunk further into the blankets, feeling like he was sinking. Tears dripped from his golden eyes as he pulled the blanket around his head, feather light sobs fell from his scratchy throat. He didn't realize how long he had cried until he felt a small hand rubbing his back making him jump. "I'm sorry you cant go home and your stuck here with me. and if i could take you home now i could, but i promise i'll take you home as soon as i can." Kenma peeked out to see Hinata sitting beside him with his red coat and a bowl of warm rice and vegetables.

Hinata's hand moved up to pat the top of Kenma's head as he knelt at the edge of the bed so he could see Kenma's eyes. He put the bowl on the bed and put out his pinky, "im promise, and i never break a promise, okay? when the snow finally melts come springtime i'll fly you home."

"o-okay." with pinkies intertwined the promise was made over a bowl of rice and veggies.
