Ice Age 2 The Meltdown Rewritten

Chapter 7

Ellie regained consciousness as she looked around at her surroundings her vision going in and out of focus as it fought to keep her awake and alert. Ellie's thoughts wondered as she heard the voices of her group replying the last event.

"Kids look, the last Mammoth!" The Aardvarks voice echoed from a few days in her head.

"I just think bravery is dumb" Manny's voice echoed

"You can't be two things!" Her own voice echoed through her head

"He thinks you're a jerk and to go away" Crash's voice now repeated, in front of her Shira and Brooke were desperately trying to snap Ellie into reality as so many more steam vents.

"Then where's your big happy family" The Little bird chicks voice came, Shira and Brooke were shouting her name but Ellie couldn't hear them and they were all out of focus as her body continued to fight falling out of consciousness.

"What's wrong with you!" Manny's voice also echoed in his head before she got her vision back and heard her two friends.

"Ellie come we got to go, now!" Shira shouted down at the dazed Mammoth. Suddenly realising the danger she was in Ellie quickly got up and ran out of the minefield but her dazed state made her run back to the entrance. Shira ran in front of her and with all the strength she could muster ran into Ellie pushing her the right way.

"That way!" she shouted as the three ran as fast as they could narrowly making to the end.

Brooke gasped for air and pulled herself up the steep slope she had been walking on and the three mammals looked on in amazement as they realised they were heading to board the boat the rest of the animals were still boarding as Vultures circled above it all.

"Do not leave your children unattended, all unattended children will be eaten" A circling Vulture warned the animals below him.

Shira, Ellie and Brooke ran about the animals searching for Manny, Crash and Eddie.

"Have you seen a Mammoth?" Ellie asked a Shovel mouth

"No, sorry" he replied and Ellie ran to another animals.

"Have you seen a Mammoth?

No-no I haven't" it also replied.

"Possum, about 14 foot tall?" Shira asked an Aardvark

"Uh-uh" she told her.

Ellie tapped on the shell of a Glyptodon who in return looked up at who had done it.

"Hey buddy have you seen a Mammoth?" she asked

"I sure have, big as life" he replied

"Where!" Ellie asked excitedly

"I'm looking at her" he came back sarcastically, smirking to his partner next to him

"Not me!" Ellie angrily said back before continuing on her way

"Poor gal doesn't know she's a Mammoth" he told his partner.

Suddenly there was a deep rumbling from behind the herd and they all turned around quickly to see what it was.

The wall of ice protecting the animals from the onslaught of water just a top it broke sending gallons and gallons of water pouring into the ground below.

The force of the wave crushed anything in it's wake. Meanwhile, still oblivious the broken dam behind them Ellie and the others found no trace of Manny, Crash or Eddie.

"I don't see him anywhere!" Ellie told Shira.

"Maybe he's already on board!" Shira replied. The ground shook beneath the animals feet as the oncoming tidal wave drew ever nearer to the herd. Everyone looked on in fear as they expected the worst to come. Rocks crumbled just as the Vulture had told the herd those few days ago.
