~My soul chose yours, and a soul just doesn't forgets that.~Lily's pov
For a moment I stood there shocked and stilled my tongue tied no words breaking out of my mouth as I recalled what he had just said. It bounced around my head, first in shock, then in disbelief and finally, in anger.
You have to be freaking kidding me! He didn't know who I was?
I scoffed bitterly my jaw tensing at his sour words, my eyes met his momentarily and something in him froze when he saw my expression but he shook it off by masking it with his usual bitter own self. If he wanted to play games he could've just said so.
"Yeah right, my sincere apologies." I spat with sarcasm lacing my tone as I hurried away from Adam. At this point I didn't even want to be here.
The music blared louder through the walls as I made my way towards Zayn who was indulged in a conversation with a cigar hanging under his lips. "Zayn!" I shouted gaining his attention. His eyebrows tipped up breaking a smoke out of his mouth. "Well that was quick, but I don't see your fiancé." his eyes searched through the sweaty crowd making me roll my eyes.
"He didn't even know who I was." I barked out a humourless laugh making him look at me as if I've lost my mind. "Kiddo, you sure you're not drunk?" He looked flabbergasted eyeing me quizzically. "No, but I could seriously use one." My hands shoot up towards the glass I gulped the tequila shot immediately regretting tasting the aftermath taste, the bitter beverage burned through my throat.
Zayn chuckled darkly taking a sip of his brandy."Damn, who hurt you?" he teased with an ounce of smile mustering over his face.
"I barged in the meeting and when I asked if he was alright and what was the matter he just flipped me off by saying 'What are you talking about, I don't even know who you are." the smile slipped out his face, his expression turned dreadfully cold as he cleared his throat.
"Unbelievable," I shook my head still not believing Adam would say something imbecile like that. "I wanna murder him." He chuckled evilly shaking his head at the thought running a hand through his disheveled hair.
"Why did Damien get you engaged and with him?" He emphasised the word him with displeasure coating his tone. "To be honest I never bothered asking all I saw was that I was getting engaged to the guy I ever loved." I agreed sighing slightly.
"That's pretty dumb." He pointed out, his lips curling into a frown at my response. "But that's what love does to you shuts you off from the reality, it blinds you." He grimaced.
Did I believe him? Not really, Because Zayn never appreciated the thought of falling in love.
"Does he treat you well?" He hesitated a bit making me frown,"Of course!" I couldn't let him or Damien know about the fact of his rudeness towards me but then again he too had a soft side, A side I believed in.
He seemed to be deep in thought I knew it was hard for him to believe that Adam would treat someone nicely but then again I was confused to as why everyone thought him as a monster, and why was it so hard to believe?
"lily, I'm afraid your lies won't work on me tell me what exactly is going on." By the demanding tone of his voice he wanted to know, "I have no need to lie to you." He shrugged not pushing the subject anymore making me sigh in relief.
"lily." A strong hand shot out grasping my arm, whirling me around my eyes connected with his only to find his jaw clenching and his expression hard.
I pulled my hand away from his grip crossing my arms together."Minutes ago you didn't even know who I was." I tossed him a sarcastic smile."I'm sorry but do I know you?" I shoot back using his words against his pretending to be deep in thought, Zayn behind me snickered.
