    The day had come...

The day you would go to the tutoring class your teacher had assigned you to take.

'Why math...?' You whined in your head. Yet, you went anyway, since you didn't want to redo your last year.

You walk down the hallway, you look down at the paper your math teacher gave you,
Room: 4125 was where you had to be. As you scanned the classrooms, you noticed something caught your eye, some kid which you didn't recognize dropped an old newspaper. You quickly pick it up and start looking for the kid.

    They were gone.

You looked around to see if they turned around.

    No one.

You looked at the newspaper. It was from atleast 4 or 5 years ago.

It was about the Screeching Plague...

    You felt your stomach drop...

'Why do they have this...?! No one has talked about this in forever...' You thought, trying to keep it together.

Suddenly the school bell rang. Tutoring was starting in a few minutes! You tuck the newspaper in your backpack and started sprinting down the hallway, quickly looking for your assigned classroom. You reached the end of the hallway and found the classroom to your right. You quickly open the door, starling the teacher inside.

"Ever heard of knocking?!" She seems mad. "Nevermind that. I'm Ms. Lara if you were wondering. Please take a seat. Class will start shortly."

"Sorry Miss." You apologise and enter the classroom. You pick a seat close to the back. You place your backpack on the chair and sit down. You take out the newspaper again and start reading it.

"Some sort of high pitched sound and bright flash kills thousands in less than 24 hours."

About 48 hours from now, a strange and deadly sound and flash occurred out of no where. Leaving thousands paralysed and presumed dead.
Reports say that the only survivors were people who were reported to be deaf, have ear coverings at the moment and who were out of hearing range. Scientists have concluded that the sound and flash was not man-made nor by nature, still leaving many with questions on why this tragedy came to be. People are still trying to find the source of this outbreak to see if it had any relation with this. However, many haven't gotten much information or even leads to solve this mystery. There was this one small piece of this puzzle we have managed to uncover.
The first reported death of this phenomenon was at a high school near where witnesses say the rest of the deaths came after. A boy, around the age of 14 or 15 was reported with a paralysed death. Another student from the high school witnessed the ordeal. Going by an anonymous name, said that "I know this sounds strange, but I think the cause of this was by-

The school bell rings a second time. Not even a second later, the door of the classroom swings open. Probably the same way you did. Revealing a exhausted, panting, blue-haired boy. He looked like he just ran a marathon.

"Four!" Ms. Lara says shocked. "Why are you late to my class?"

The boy looked awfully familiar, but you couldn't put your finger on it.

"Sorry...Miss...Lara..." The boy said between gasps. "I thought I dropped...Something..."

'Wait... dropped something...?' You mentally say.

"Well, take a seat Four. I'm starting class now." The teacher signals him to sit down

The boy takes a seat right next to you.

'Greeeaaaaattt...' You get an awkward feeling from this guy. If he really was the same person who dropped the newspaper, then why did he want it back so bad...?

    "Hey."

"Huh?!" The voice snapped you from your thoughts. It was the boy.

"Are you ok? You seem very confused." Their face looked concerned.

"Uh- umm... yeh. J-just thought o-of something..." You felt you face heat up and started to pay attention to class.

After a while, Ms. Lara handed out worksheets for everyone to work on. You had some trouble on it. [Why do you think you're in the class? :-/] On the other hand, the boy beside you smoothly finished the paper and turned it in. Leaving you even more red in the face.

A few minutes go by and you still struggled with the worksheet.

"I can help you if you want." It was the boy again.

"I- ummm... I-" You were completely embarrassed at this point.

"I'll just take that as a yes." The boy leans over and looks at your paper. "Oh, this is easy. You have to find the ratio of the shape. So, first you have to find the measurements. Then, you write them as a fraction." He takes his pencil and writes on your paper.

'Woah...He was very neat handwriting...' You, distractingly think. 'Why is he helping me on this? I'm technically wasting his time. Why does he care? I bet he's the smartest in this class. Wait... why is he even in this class if he's already good at math?! I should probably ask him that..."

"Did you get all that?" The boy asks, making you look down at your paper. He wrote a bunch of equations and solved the problem. And you didn't even pay attention! How stupid...

"Uhh..." You start to laugh nervously, realizing your mistake.

The boy sighs and smiles lightly. "Don't worry, I can explain it again. Pay attention this time though" You nod your head in agreement. He softly laughs making you blush a bit. "Ok, so first you find the measurements of the shape. Which are here and here."

The boy seemed harmless and nice. He was very caring to you and didn't really mind if he had to repeat himself. But, one last question pondered in your mind...

Why did he have the newspaper in the first place...?
