"Okay, so, who is doing makeup?" Cheryl asks.
"You, obviously. You're the best at it."
Cheryl smiles, grabbing Bettys' makeup bag. "Where were you guys at lunch? I was looking for you."
"Uh, Jug took Ronnie up on her offer." Betty says.
"Oh my God." Cheryl laughs. "You guys, that is not normal."
"I mean, he just came up to me and said that he wanted to do it. It was weird to me because, I mentioned it like, a month ago."
    "Huh, I wonder why."
"I don't know, he just made me go up to Betty and let her know."
    "What was Betty doing?"
    "I was talking to Archie."
    "Boom."
"I don't get it." Veronica says.
"Jughead was trying to keep that bit of intimacy with Betty but didn't want to get rejected. He knew you wanted to try something new, so it would be easier to get to Betty through you."
"Huh." Betty says. "Would you guys mind if I go see him for a bit? I need to figure everything out."
"Yeah, of course. Just be as fast as you can."
Betty gets to Jughead's house and they sit quietly on the couch. "Why are you here?" Jughead asks.
"I uh." She gulps. "Need to talk to you."
"Okay, what do you need to talk about?"
"We have to drop doing what we're doing. It's just going to hurt one of us."
    "Is this because of Archie?"
"What? No. See, this is what I'm talking about. we have this intimate connection that we have to get rid of so that we can move on."
"Betty, I don't want to move on. I care about you. I will change for you, okay. I'll spend more time with you and I'll-"
"Jug, stop. I just need time, okay. Space."
"So that's why you came over? Is this because of what happened at lunch? We didn't have to if you weren't comfortable."
"No, Jug. It's because you're still jealous of Archie."
"The only reason I'm jealous of Archie is that you can be with him. We're broken up. I want you to be with me. I just wish you would care about me."
"I do care about you. We just aren't meant to be together."
"We are, Betts. We're so good together."
"This is the longest conversation we've had. Doesn't that say something?"
"I'll work on it, okay? I promise. I'll try harder."
"Juggie, " Betty says and a tear falls from her eye. "It won't work. You know it won't."
"It will. We can make it work."
"I'm leaving for college soon. We can't do long distance."
"Yes, we can, Betts. I'll call you every night. Please. Please just give us a chance."
Betty makes the mistake of looking at Jughead. His eyes are watery and pleading.
"Jug, I...I have to go. We can't be together."
