"Long time no see, Cooper." I turned around at the familiar voice coming through the doors of The Register.
"Jughead."
He had blue skinny jeans, white shirt, boots and the same emerald eyes. His beautiful dark hair, perfectly placed in his head. A couple more tattoos than the serpents one, and the iconic serpent jacket... He didn't have his beanie anymore.
"How have you been?" I asked.
"Good, I'm a writer in the big apple. Afterall, not going to Yale didn't stop me." He laughed.
"I was just picking up stuff for my Mom."
Being in that old office with him made me feel anxious, too many memories runned through my head. I could feel a pressure on my chest.
"How's Arch?" He asked boldly.
"Haven't seen him since I went to college." I could feel myself trembling.
"I should probably leave." He said focusing on the floor.
Please don't. Stay.
"I should head out too, my mom is waiting for me. Thanks for coming around."
"Wait, Betty."
I turned around hopeful, waiting for the comforting eyes to ask to stay.
"You forgot this box." He said.
"Oh... Thanks, Jug."
I haven't called him that in years. He looked surprised, and at the same time scared.
"Need a hand? I have nothing to do, since Pop's memorial is over."
"You don't have to-"
"But i want to, c'mon Betts." He interrupted. "Can i still call you that? Betts?"
"Oh, shut up." I pushed him.
He smirked.
There's something about Jughead Jones, always trying to make me feel comfortable around him. I forgot how it felt.
"You always know how to break the ice."
"It's a talent."
"Always so humble, Jones."
He couldn't contain his laughter. I forgot the effect of that laugh.
Maybe we could be friends after all.
