LEAFPOOL'S POV:

"Why didn't you catch anything!?" The furious cry of thunderclan's deputy rang in Leafpool's ears. Brambleclaw's dark, amber eyes glittered with rage. Why be so cold? Thought Leafpool. "Don't get so angry..." Whimpered Leafpool. Brambleclaw spat at her, his pelt bristling. "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and make yourself useful! This clan doesn't need more soft mouths to feed! you call yourself a warrior? Your pathetic attempts to catch prey make me sick! I should-"

"Stop that!" Yowled a voice. "Firestar is very sick!" The voice belonged to Sandstorm. The ginger she-cat's eyes glistened with fear. Brambleclaw snorted, grabbed Leafpool by the scruff, and padded towards Firestar's den. "Let go!" Croaked Leafpool. Brambleclaw dropped her and she landed with a thump. "Useless furball." He muttered.

"I'd rip your fur off if I could, you-" a yowl sounded through camp before she could finish. She bolted into her father's den, the smell of sickness drenched the walls of the cave. "Fox-dung." Hissed Brambleclaw. Leafpool saw Squirrelflight, Holding on to Jayfeather's leg.

"Make him better!" She begged the gray medicine cat. Jayfeather lashed his tail impatiently. Leafpool knew she could help, she had once been a medicine cat. But would Jayfeather trust her? Should he trust her? I'm a warrior now, she thought. Flashbacks of the dreadful day where Hollyleaf had revealed the truth about Squirrelflight danced in her mind. Hollyleaf's voice echoed in her head, her voice shouted: "We're not the kits of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight! Me, Jayfeather and Lionblaze are half-clan! Leafpool is our mother, and Crowfeather of Windclan is our father!". Jayfeather would never forget that. Leafpool watched Firestar, his breathing came in spasms. Oh, starclan, don't take him now! Firestar gasped suddenly. "Lick his chest, now!" Ordered Jayfeather. Brambleclaw lay beside Firestar, begging him to hold on and ignoring Jayfeather's order. Here comes the grumpy old badger! Thought Leafpool as Jayfeather shoved Squirrelflight into Firestar. Squirrelflight began to lick without hesitation, but as she rasped her tongue over his flame-coloured fur, he started to cough. "It's blood! Squirrelflight you mouse-brain! Your doing it wrong!" Wailed Brambleclaw. Oh yeah? what do you know about medicine? thought Leafpool. Leafpool's sister stepped back, to let Brambleclaw take her place. "She was doing it right, move back!" Hissed Jayfeather. Brambleclaw's pelt bristled with anger. Sandstorm leapt into the den, her expression, unreadable. "F-Firestar? What's happened?"

"She was making him bleed! She was NOT doing it right! How do you even know! You're blind you stupid medicine cat!"

Jayfeather sighed. "I'm sorry Brambleclaw, but there is nothing else anyone can do for him. He is on his way to starclan now."

"What! No! NO! Do something!" Yowled Brambleclaw. Firestar lifted his head slightly.

"B...Brambleclaw. You will be...the greatest leader...the clans will ever see. You...you were like the son I never had..." Brambleclaw yowled and yowled, but Firestar's breathing got shallower. "My beautiful daughters, My beautiful mate, Sandstorm....I will miss you...Goodbye..." Firestar gasped, pressed his head into Sandstorm's flank once more, then went limp. He did not move anymore. Remorse and guilt weighed down Leafpool's heart. Could I have prevented this? Brambleclaw slumped onto the floor, his tired eyes heavy with grief. Squirrelflight touched him affectionately with her muzzle, but the brown tabby would not get up. Sandstorm yowled, "Firestar no!" She pressed her head against his cold fur. My father is dead. Dead. He is dead, she kept reminding herself. Leafpool whimpered. Brambleclaw, was in, a a kind of...fit. He was shaking on the floor beside Firestar's body. He suddenly let off a yowl, "I CAN'T TAKE IT!" He scrabbled to his feet, bolted out the den and into clearing. Leafpool had never seen him so emotional. well, Firestar was his mentor-i guess he was like a father to him... They'll have to break the news to the clan, and find their new leader...Leafpool suddenly jumped...BEFORE THE GATHERING TONIGHT!
