Squirrelflight's POV:

Squirrelflight settled down in her nest. A sickly glow washed over the thunderclan camp. Where is starclan when you need them? She gave her ruffled chest fur a couple of nervous licks. Then, the call she dreaded hearing sounded through camp. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the highrocks for a clan meeting!" Called Hollystar. Squirrelflight walked over, slowly and nervously. Hollystar spoke up. "Brackenfur, you would not step forward to me in our last clan meeting. How very disloyal!"

Squirrelflight shivered. Is she going to make him step forward again? Or exile him? "But. I am giving you another chance to prove your loyalty. Kill that useless cat." Cats gasped as Hollystar pointed her tail at Briarlight. Claws of dread grasped Squirrelflight's stomach. Surely she wouldn't kill Briarlight! Brackenfur stood, bewildered. "Hollystar...I can't kill such an innocent cat. I WILL NOT kill her!"

"Then you'll die too. Lionblaze? Kill that traitor. He blew his last chance." Hissed Hollystar. Lionblaze shivered. He whispered something to himself. A prayer? Then he leapt at Brackenfur. Brackenfur hissed, pouncing back at Lionblaze. Lionblaze swerved out the way before tossing himself on top of Brackenfur. The golden tabbies tussled for all they were worth. "Come on Lionblaze! Stop being pathetic! Dustpelt, Spiderleg! Finish him!" Yowled Hollystar. Surely they aren't loyal to that mange-pelt too! But she was wrong. The two dark-furred cats jumped at Brackenfur. The tabby struggled under the weight of all the other Tom-cats. "Step aside." Meowed a rather amused Hollystar. She jumped down from her highledge. Spiderleg and Dustpelt left Brackenfur, along with a terrified Lionblaze. He regrets it, he hates Hollystar's way, thought Squirrelflight. Hollystar pinned Brackenfur to the floor. "You had a chance to prove your loyalty." She spat.

"However. You decided to defend this weak and useless soul." She turned to Briarlight. Brackenfur growled.

"You will never win, Hollystar. Sooner or later, you will be defeated!" He spat. Hollystar grinned, slicing his throat open. He gasped.

"Oh, believe me now...I have already won." Laughed Hollystar as Brackenfur closed his eyes. The tabby's blood soaked Hollystar's paws, but she did not care. Squirrelflight tensed, but her other clanmates had ran off in terror, not stopping to mourn their clanmates's body. She saw Lionblaze standing a few tail-lengths away from Briarlight. "Lionblaze! Why did you listen to her?" She meowed sadly to her foster-son. "If I hadn't, i could have been...ummm...killed." He meowed sharply. Jayfeather padded over to his brother.

"But you can't be kil-"

"Shush! Let's move before Hollystar rips us to shreds too." Muttered Lionblaze. Squirrelflight tensed. Rips us to shreds? Oh, if that hero is real, let him come now! Squirrelflight glanced at Brackenfur's body once more before trailing off behind Lionblaze.
