The Way I Love You

Chapter One - The Newcomer

I heard my digital clock ringing and slammed my hand hard onto the snooze button.

Man, I hate Tuesdays.

Or any days, really.

I sat up and stretched my arms, rubbing my eyes afterwards and stood up from my bed. I pulled back the covers and walked over to my closet with my eyes half open.

It was a new start, a new beginning, and a reason to change. I didn't want to be treated like I was back home. I didn't need the constant name-calling this time, not like in Dallas.

I won't be treated like the poor person I used to be, for once, I wanted to fit in with everyone else.

And I won't get judged for it.

I shook the thoughts away and soon settled on a pair of black skinny jeans and a white tank top, and finished the look with my new red Vans.

I headed over to my dressing table and ran my hairbrush through my hair and let the natural brown curls fall over my shoulders.

I slipped my charm bracelet on, admiring the little red heart, the musical note, and the small infinity symbol and put some gold diamond studs in my ears.

I applied a little lipgloss onto my lips and slipped the cap back on and applied a little mascara to my lashes that framed my sparkling blue-green eyes.

I wasn't exactly satisfied with the way I looked, I never really will be, but I just stood up, taking my brown shoulder bag from the side of my bed and shoved my phone, lipgloss and notebook into it.

I sighed and decided to head downstairs.

"Morning, Alyx." I heard my mom say as I finished descending down the stairs.

I got to the kitchen to see her in her pink dressing gown and fuzzy slippers.

"Hey, mom. No early morning meetings?"

"Nope. I start at about nine-ish, so I don't need to get ready just yet." She emphasized.

"Good." I began thinking of breakfast. "Where's the cereal cabinet?"

"Second from the right." She said, sipping some coffee from the mug she was holding tightly.

"Thanks." I murmured and reached for the cabinet and opened it, seeing a box of Lucky Charms and Cap'n Crunch. I smiled and pulled out the box of Lucky Charms.

"Bowls?"

"Bottom cabinet in the middle."

"Thanks, and spoons?"

"First drawer." She chuckled and put her mug in the sink.

"Thanks." I chuckled and got the milk out of the fridge and poured the Lucky Charms into the bowl and added the milk.

"Nervous?" Mom asked.

"Very." I mumble with my mouth full of cereal.

"Where's your guitar?"

"Don't wanna take it." I said through gritted teeth.

"Okay..." She said slowly and I smiled at her.

I quickly finished my cereal and placed my bowl in the sink.

"I'll see you later, mom."

"Have fun!" She smiled.
