Chapter 1: Return or not!?

Hermione's POV

"Help me... please" I hear Ron's voice echo. "Where are you?" I ask, it's dark and I can't see anything.

I listen for a response for a minute until I hear an agonizing groan coming from down the corridor. "Ron?" I ask hesitantly.

I see a figure, it's Ron, he's bleeding out against the wall. "Ron!" I run up to him, panicking and worried. "You going to be okay. Just hang in there." I hold pressure on the wound just above his belt buckle.

"You did this to me!" Ron shouted. Giving a confused look, I ask, "What are you talking about, Ron? I just got here."

"Get away from me!" Ron shouted.

I woke up screaming, realising that it was all just a nightmare. Tears streaming down my cheeks.

I swing my legs over the bed, feeling dizzy. It's been 4 months since I left The Burrow to find my parents. I tracked them down from France last month.

I heard a pecking sound by the window, there was an brown owl perched on the ledge. "Oliver" I walked over and let him come in. I gave him a few treats and took the letter noticing the Hogwarts seal. I opened the letter and read.

Dear Miss Granger

I am proud to inform you that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has been rebuilt and will begin after this Christmas, 1 September.

I am inviting you to return for your final year at Hogwarts to complete your education.

Please write back before 31st July.

Professor McGonagall

P.S. I hope to see you soon, Hermione.

I went over to my desk and started writing to Harry.

Dear Harry

I know it's been a while since I last wrote. I hope you are enjoying Christmas.

So, McGonagall sent a letter to return for our last year. I am going to reply yes and I hope to see you and Ron there.

Oh, I am doing good. I'll be returning in 2 weeks. So I can start preparing for Hogwarts.

Write back please. I sent Ron a letter too.

I sealed the envelope and started writing to Ron.

Dear Ron

I know it's been a while since I last wrote. I hope you enjoying Christmas.

I have written to Harry about returning back to Hogwarts. I am going to reply yes.

Anyways, I'll see you in 2 weeks.

I sent Oliver back to Hogwarts with my reply and sent my owl, Piper, to The Burrow.

Meanwhile at Malfoy Manor

Lucius Malfoy had just been released after serving 6 months while he awaited trail in Azkaban. Draco has recently come into an inheritance on his 18th birthday. He is a Veela and it is time for him to find his mate.

Draco's POV

I wake up to the sound of rain, its so peaceful, I lay in bed for a few minutes taking in the peacefulness and I don't wanna get up. I turn on my left side to look at the clock on my bedside table, its 6am. I get up to take a nice soothing hot shower.

Today's gonna be a long day. I thought as I looked in the mirror. Dad is coming home today and I don't even know what to expect.

I spent 10 minutes in the shower and got dressed into a navy skinny jean and a plain black t-shirt.

I head down the staircase to the kitchen to get some breakfast. "Alma" I call for our house elf.

"What can Alma do for Master Draco?" she asked as she vowed her head. "I would like something light to eat please." "Would Master like a ham and cheese toasty?" "Yes, I'll be in the library."

I made way to the library on the far end of the manor, I walked in and sunk into my armchair. I pick up a book, Macbeth, from the side table and start reading.

A few minutes later there was a noise coming from outside, I look out the window and there is an unrecognised owl perched on the ledge. I open the window, take the letter from the owl's beak, and give the owl treats.

The Hogwarts seal, I thought as I opened the letter. It read:

Dear Mr Malfoy

I am proud to inform you that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has been rebuilt and will begin after this Christmas, 1 September.

I am inviting you to return for your final year at Hogwarts to complete your education.

Please write back before 31st July.

P.S. Draco, please consider coming back. Don't worry about the past. I miss you.

I heard a pop from behind me, it was Alma with breakfast, I thanked her and she left with another pop.

What should I do? Should I go back? Maybe this is a second chance. I thought and shoved to the back of my mind, putting the letter away.

I eat my breakfast quickly and decide that I have to go back to Hogwarts, so I write back to Aunt Minerva, informing her that I'll be completing the final year.

Time skip: 2 weeks later

Hermione's POV

Monday; 27 July 1999. I wake up to see the morning sun streaming in through the window, it is so bright, I have a headache. Swinging my legs over the bed I look to check my bedside muggle clock, its 07:20. I need to pack to go back to The Burrow.

I walk over to the bathroom and run a nice bubble bath. I lay there for a while drinking coffee that I summoned.

I get out the bath and dry my hair wandlessly. I get dressed into black jeans and a red top.

Heading towards the front door where my trunk is, I shrink my trunk to fit in my pocket and apparate to The Burrow.

"Hermione, is that you?" Ginny asks looking surprised. "Gin, it's me" I smile and she engulfs me with a Weasley hug. I see Harry and Ron behind Gin with smirks on their faces and I smirk back. "Uhm...Gin...I can't breathe." She lets go and look at the boys, "Hey Harry. Hey Ron" They hug me and we head upstairs.
