Summer Camp Lovers

The arrival

Kids were pushing and shoving. it felt like a mosh pit and I couldn't handle it, I thought I signed up for a summer camp but this was like a battle. Old friends where yelling to each other and shoving people to get to them and new people where getting excited about what they saw and yelling and screaming and trying to run towards it.

Everyone was standing at the base of the camp waiting for the counsellor to explain what was going on. I was ready to leave and go find my cabin myself when a girl probably around 26
hopped up on a rock and started speaking in a voice far too perky and immediately the chatter died away,

"Hello and welcome to camp seamore! Where you see more!" Then she laughed as if this was funny "my name is Jane and I'm a counsellor here at camp, and I want you all to feel welcome to ask me anything! You will be here for the next two weeks of your life so we need to feel comfortable with each other! I hope that we will, but now onto the really interesting matter, as many of you who were here last year know, in three days time the camp competition starts, so quickly go find a partner and I will explain how it works!"

The second she stopped talking the screaming and pushing started up again and so I decided I didn't want a bad partner so I as well started pushing and started making my way towards a girl who looked friendly enough

"hi, I'm Athena, do you want to be partners?" I asked hoping I seemed nice enough

"I would love to but unfortunately I already have a partner" she said and then she smiled slightly "how old are you?" She asked

"um I'm 17 why?" I asked confused

"awesome me too! They usually put people in cabin bunks together based on their age so we might be together!" She smiled and then walked away to who I'm guessing was her partner.

I sighed and started to head towards another girl but she turned and asked a boy and he smiled and so I was guessing that asking either of them would result in no's so I sighed and was about to ask someone else when Jane's perky voice started up again

"So, it looks like all of you have been matched up but if you haven't please stand towards the left" she said and pointed to the left.

I slowly walked over along with a ugly boy and not much better looking girl, I sighed. I decided I must at least ask one of them but as I turned towards the girl I saw her and guy walking to the right, I guess they partnered up. which just left me. There must be at least two hundred other people and all their eyes where on me at this point. I wondered how I looked, me in my little blue jean shorts and and a dark red tank top with my long dark brown hair dangling down. Did I look like I was weak and would be easy to beat? Or did I look like tough competition?

"Hmm, well maybe we could have a team of three!" Jane said "does anyone want her on your team?" It was dead silent. I guess I got my answer, I looked weak.

"Oh come on, anyone?!" Jane asked nervously

"I'll take her" a voice rang out into the silence. A boy looking around 18 walked over, he was tan and tall, probably at least 6 feet, he had dark brown hair that looked so soft and his eyes were the brightest green. He looked like the definition of beautiful and here he was, taking me as his partner.

"Okay! Awesome, so a team of three it is!" Jane said looking relieved

"Oh no ma'am I don't have another partner, I was late and heard you calling out about her" he said grinning

"Oh okay well then even better! So as some of you know this a competition and so you and your partner will have challenges to face to beat out other groups, if you are eliminated then you are moved to a different cabin and can simply spend your days here doing what you wish but you don't get a chance to win the amazing prize at the end! So the competition starts in three days so that you have a little time to get a feel for the camp, now, time for cabin's!" Then started naming names for cabin's listed from 1 and up. it wasn't till bunk seventeen when I heard Athena Whittaker called, along with a Stacy Walls, Julie Tames, Dolly parks, Shan Que-nellis and lastly Cynthia Evalus.
I smiled as the girls all walked into the middle and I joined them, the nice girl and her partner where in my cabin along with a gorgeous blonde, a short red head and a nerdy looking girl with green hair. Quite the group.

After we had found our cabin I chose a bunk bed near the door, I was bottom, -thankfully- and the nice girl from earlier was on top, her name was Stacy and her partner was Julie. they where both very kind to me and I hoped that they didn't get out soon because I liked sharing a cabin with them. the gorgeous blonde seemed alright, she was a bit bossy and clearly thought she was better then us. At first I highly disliked her but then we got into the topic of names -hers is Cynthia- and she said mine was pretty, it was that point when I decided she wasn't bad, the short red head and the green haired girl both didn't like to talk and didn't answer any of our questions except for when we asked their names, the red head was named Dolly and the green haired girl was named Shan. I could tell they both weren't going to last long, I was slightly happy because they seemed to glare at me a lot.
