Marcy's POV

Bonnibel sat nervously next to the vampire. Marceline was embarrassingly aware of how close they were on the small couch.

Marceline cleared her throat. "Um. So, what are you doing here, anyway?"

Bonnie looked slightly hurt. "What, I'm not allowed to check on my best friend when she goes MIA for a week?"

Marceline looked away, fiddling with the hem of her shirt. "You were the one ignoring me."

She shook her head. "You really thought I was ignoring you? Really? I thought you knew better better than that, Marceline." Her voice went soft at the last sentence.

Marcy still wouldn't look at the princess. Couldn't. She knew that if she saw that pretty pink face, flushed with anger, that she would break down. And she couldn't cry. Not here, not now. She was supposed to be tough! She sighed. Why did Bonnie, of all people, have to be the one person that broke down her walls?

Bonnie's POV

She poked the vampire. "Marcy?"

Marceline muttered something unintelligible and stood, pacing away from the princess.

Bonnie stood, reaching for her hand, then decided against it and pulled it back, twisting a loose thread on the hem of her shirt around her finger.

Marceline abruptly turned, looking her in the eye. "Bonnie. I've done a lot of weird stuff lately. When are you going to ask me about it?" She seemed angry.

Bonnie wrapped the string tighter around her finger. "Um... Define 'weird.'"

Marceline sighed. "A week ago, when I woke up. Just now. A thousand other things that I really prefer not to think about."

Bonnie frowned. "Why do you prefer not to think about it?"

She shook her head. "A girl's gotta have some dignity, Princess." Then she blushed a brilliant crimson and looked away.

Bonnibel smiled at her. "Okay. Well... I suppose I wasn't going to ask you about it." She took a step closer and looked up at Marceline, grabbing her hand and blushing furiously.

Marceline looked down at her nervously, twisting their fingers together. "Bonnie?

Bonnibel bit her lip and looked down. She was right there. Right in front of her. "Marceline."

Marcy leaned down a bit, looking at Bonnie. She placed her hand on the princess's shoulder, her thumb pushing her chin up. Bonnie pulled her eyes away from their intertwined fingers and up to the vampire's mouth.

"Marcy." It was barely a whisper.

She only had time to take a breath before Marceline gently pressed her lips to her own.

Bonnibel struggled to process what was happening. She looked for facts, any facts-

Marceline's lips were warm. Warm and soft and- oh.

She let go, she gave up on controlling her emotions. Her hands settled on the vampire's hips, and the princess kissed her back, softly.

Marceline's POV

Marceline threaded her hand through Bonnibel's hair, feeling how soft it was. She sighed into the kiss and pulled away. She looked nervously down at the princess.

"Um, Bonnie. I'm sorry, that was kind of-"

She was cut off when Bonnibel pulled her closer, so their bodies were pressed together from shoulders to knees, and kissed her.
