"What the hell are you doing here?" she asked me.
"Velez, what are you doing here?" Bailey asked me.
"I've got a cyclist versus auto with multiple crush injuries. Call up for a trauma OR stat." I told her.
"You heard the woman, Wilson. Go, call for the OR." Bailey ordered.
"It was nice seeing you again, Dr. Bailey." I said, looking around as I pulled the gloves off.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" she asked when I started to walk away.
"Back to get my car, my work here is done." I replied softly.
"No it's not, you better get up there with Wilson." she ordered.
"I don't work here anymore, Bailey."
"You're a visiting doctor and I'm giving you privileges."
"You're serious?" I asked, shocked and happy.
"You bet your ass, go save that girl."
"Hell yeah!"
With the biggest smile on my face I ran into the elevator with Jo, who said she had scrubs that she could lend me. The other surgeons were surprised to see me to say the least.
"What are you doing here?" Meredith Grey asked when she saw me.
"Not that it's any of your business but Bailey gave me privileges to operate on a crash victim. I have somewhere to be if you don't mind."
"What happened to her?" Grey asked.
"Car versus bike and car might have won. She was just trapped under the ca . . ., she couldn't breathe, even in war zones I've never seen anything like it." I said, going back to that mental place and comparing it to past situations.
"Go, you have somewhere to be." she said, a strange look on her face.
Jo scrubbed in with me after I had someone page Torres for ortho, I'm gonna need her.
"Suction!" I ordered.
"There's a lot of blood, suction keeps clogging up." Jo said.
"Adjust the angle, lower your hand." I told her, moving her hand.
"Ross, let's run the small bowel." I told the intern that Grey lent me.
"How do I do that again?" he asked me.
"Take them in your hands, look for injuries. Nice and slow." I said, nodding at him when he started doing it.
"Hey! Sorry, I just dropped Sofia off at daycare. I forgot it was multicultural day." Callie said.
"Nice to see you Torres."
"It's nice to have you back."
"Just here for this, Bailey gave me privileges."
"Let's get busy. Okay, the break is near the femoral artery. Ooh, she's losing a lot of blood." she said.
"Um, yeah!" Jo said.
"Suction." I told her again.
"I'm trying." Jo muttered.
"Okay Jo, just get in there and just scoop it out with your hands. Just scoop it out. Just get right in there." I said.
I can't believe the way this girl is bleeding, we're gonna need a hell of a lot of back up blood here.
"Okay, the liver's exsanguinating. Ross, suction. Jo, grab a clamp for this."
