chapter 4: the perfect gift

*lazuli's pov*

                 ever since speed said he would be my boyfriend I have been happier than I ever have been and we have been going to town once a week and also my leg healed so now speed didn't have to carry me everywhere it still hurt but I didn't let it show how could I speed was happy whenever he knew I was happy so who was I to rob him of his happiness I just wanted to buy him a gift to show him I cared about him as much as he cared for me I thought  that it was unfair we always did what I wanted to do so I wanted to show him how much he meant to me. I'm walking in and out of the shops for a while but I still didn't find anything he would like and it was getting dark I was about to call it a day and go home when through a shop window I say the perfect scarf it was purple that was as deep as his beautiful eyes it had aspects of light blue and yellow I ran inside the shop and grabbed the scarf it was super soft, it was perfect. I went to the register  and asked "how much is it?"  the snivy behind the desk said "that would be 15000 poke" yeesh that's an expensive scarf. still I did not hesitate I just pulled out the money and handed it to him, I took the scarf and I started walking home I realized how dangerous it was to be outside in the dark. I was almost in the forest when I was hit with a shadow ball in the back of the head I was blasted forward and I landed on my back fighting off unconsciousness  I saw a gengar making his way too me "what do we have here?" I tried to run but I tripped because my foot was still broken when I fell I knew there was no way to run the gengar was charging another shadow ball. I knew there was no way I won this I just accepted my fate. The shadow ball was about to hit me when I saw a yellow flash in front of me and then there was speed he took the shadow ball for me then he tackled the gengar  then one-shot it with thunder, then he punted it into a tree for good measure. he turned and looked at me and he walked to me he was right infront of me when he knelt down and asked "what are you doing outside at this hour of the night!" he checked to see if I was hurt he found were the shadow ball hit me and saw the mark and made an exasperated noise. he picked me up and said "please lazuli never do that again, I cant live with myself if you got hurt or worse". I started to cry when he said "shush please I'm not mad" I listened to him and stopped crying. I hugged him and said weakly "t-thank you s-speed" I handed him the scarf and said "I-I was getting t-this f-for you t-too show how m-much I-I care about you" speed looked at the scarf in surprise "t-thank you" he took the scarf and put it on and it fit perfectly it made him look even cuter. he looked at me and smiled then he started walking home I remembered he took a shadow ball for me so I asked "speed you did take a shadow ball for me, are you ok?" he looked at me and grinned "I'm fine as long as your fine" when he walked into the door I saw pearl was sitting at the table sipping a coffee she didn't even look she just asked "lazuli are you ok?" I felt horrible, I had made everyone stay up all night because I needed to get speed a gift I answered just simple saying "yes thank you for waiting for me" she looked at me in surprise and said "you had doubt I wouldn't?" eesh I dug myself into that one I looked at her apologetically "maybe" she gasped in 'how could you way' then she smiled at me and said don't worry dear it doesn't matter all that matters is that your safe" I smiled at her and thanked her then speed took me to my room and put me in my bed but before he walked away I grabbed his paw "uh lazuli what are you doing?" I smiled as a plan formed in my head "speed I'm so cold" he looked at me and asked "oh what would you like,  a blanket or a qui-AHHH!" I had tugged his arm so he tumbled into the bed and when he landed I said "no I want you silly" he looked aghast and I realized I probably messed up I should've asked if he was ok with it "uh speed are you ok with this?" I was probably blushing hard he looked at me with a surprised face and I saw that he was blushing hard too he just said "u-uh I'm o-o-ok w-with it" ok good so I snuggled up against to him and I felt how warm he was making "hup" noises I kept snuggling him for a bit until "*gasp!*", I had started nuzzling him and it surprised him. I knew he was enjoying it so I kept on nuzzling, I could see he was blushing harder than before and so was I but I didn't care he was so warm that I felt like I was melting and he was so soft that I felt like I was wrapped in a pillow body suit he was shivering but not from the cold. he was grinning but he was looking awkward he turned toward me and wrapped me in a tight embrace I kept nuzzling him his embrace was nice and he was so soft I felt like I was about to fall aslee-... ... ... ... I had fallen asleep in speeds arms I could feel his touch in my dream. I dreamed that me and speed were getting married but I woke up in the middle of the dream to a sheik of surprise , leaf was in my room and she had probably been told to wake me up, she had woken up speed to- then I realized that I was on top of speed "KYAAA!!!" I jumped up and saw that speed had a sad look on his face. I looked at leafy with 'why would you do that?' eyes she returned a look that said 'I'm sorry sis' she said "I-I was t-t-told to wake y-you g-guys up" speed got up and when I made to get up he said "no you need sleep, what would you like too eat?" I  look at him with an awkward smile and say "you're the only snack I need" he laughs awkwardly and said "ok pancakes it is" and on that note he walked out of my room the scarf trailing behind him. leafy looks at me and says "I'm so sorry about that I should not have shrieked I-I ruined y-your moment w-with s-speed" I knew she felt horrible and I so I said "Its ok sis don't worry about it and please don't cry" she sat on my bed and looked at my broken leg "oh no does it hurt? do you need anything " I smiled and said "no because speed handled it so quickly that it doesn't hurt anymore and I'm able to walk" she smiled but she didn't have to speak for me to understand her smile spoke volumes ' that's good' is what radiated from her smile. speed returned with two plates both had a small stack of pancakes they were drizzled in Oran juice he had obviously worked harder on my pancakes then he had for his own he saw leafy was still there and he said "uh leafy I made extras if you would like some?"  she smiled at him as he handed me my plate and a fork I smiled and thanked him while leafy said "I would love some" so speed set down his plate and walked out and returned a minute later with another plate of pancakes and he handed it too leafy and we all sat and ate for a while when we finished. Before leafy left my room speed said "do you girls wanna go somewhere?" leafy turned around and said "like what?" speed smiled and said "bowling?" me and leafy both said "we'd love too go bowling" so we got ready and left it took a while but we finally got there. it was a big place with about 12 lanes. speed payed for three games. speed said "would you like me to go easy on you guys?" I smiled and said "no" speed smiled and went first and proceeded to get a strike leafy went next and got a spare, but when I went I tripped and the ball went flying into the lane speed jumped up and helped me too my feet I saw that the bowling ball actually hit 6 pins down so I was able to squeak by with a spare nothing eventful happened other than speed getting a strike almost every time, he mopped the floor with us. when we left we opted to go get ice cream. when we arrived at the ice cream shop I immediately asked "HOW MUCH CAN I GET?????" speed laughed and said "six scoops I guess" I picked my flavors then I went all out with the toppings I was watering at the mouth just looking at it. when I sat down with leaf and speed I saw that speed didn't get anything and I felt bad so I asked "wanna share mine?" he looked surprised and said "uh s-sure" he took a spoon and we shared the ice cream. leafy was enjoying her cone so I left her alone. when we finished we left the ice cream shop we walked down a road for a while until speed looked into a shop and said " can you guys sit here for a minute?" so me and leafy nodded confusedly so we sat at a bench. we had to wait for like five minutes but speed came out with two scarves.  "I found something I think you two would like he gave me a light green scarf and leafy a light green scarf that had dark blue that matched her leaves perfectly. he seemed proud and me and leaf loved them "thanks speed" leafy was the first to speak. I smiled at speed and he smiled back his smile looked so warm. I wanted him so bad but I didn't deserve him he's so good and I'm so bad. I pulled speed into a dark alley after calling over my shoulder "leafy please stay there for a minute" when we walk into the alley I say to speed "I don't think I can date you anymore" I start to cry and I can feel the warm tear running down my face "lazuli, why cant we date anymore, what's the problem?" I look at him and I say" its just that your a great person and I'm just awful, you deserve better then me" speed gives me an exasperated face and say's "no that's not true, I love you, you are the prettiest girl I have ever met and I wouldn't trade the world for you" before I knew what I was doing I kissed him and I held it for a minute, when we broke apart I was about to say 'thank you speed' he scooped me up and he walked out the alley way. him picking me up scared me a little but that feeling of being scared was replaced with a feeling of being comfortable leafy looked at speed carrying me and smiled her smile was the last thing I saw before I fell asle-... ...
