Miss Oates started smiling, uncontrollably. “Why don’t you take a seat, beside Miss Reynolds?” Miss Oates said to the guy Blossom Lynn and I saw earlier, surrounded by girls.
I sighed, ‘No, No, No, No!’ I am being forced to sit beside the new kid, clearly a bad boy. I moved my books out of the seat next to me, then he sat down.
“Hey, I’m Kaiden,” He whispered.
I scoffed and turned back around. I looked towards Blossom Lynn as she sat near Miss Oates desk. I’d so much rather sit there than here right now.
Throughout the class, I kept catching Kaiden staring at me. What is his problem? Do I look bad or something?
I felt someone touch my shoulder. It was Tony. He always flirted with every girl at this school. I angrily pushed his hand off and growled.
He moved his mouth towards my ear.
“You so want me.’ He whispered.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
Tony was a good-looking guy, but I had to honor the girl code, which means I couldn’t date him, because Blossom Lynn liked him. Like I’d actually want to date him. YEAH RIGHT!
He kept trying to touch me. I was getting furious, but just as I was about to snap, Kaiden stood up.
“She said leave her alone!” He snapped at Tony.
Tony scoffed and walked to his seat. I was absolutely shocked. Did he just stand up for me? If so, why? No one ever defends me. He sat back down, still glancing at me every now and then.
Something about him was different from anything else. Something in him was different from every other boy. The bell rang and I had History next. I met Blossom Lynn in the classroom, still a little dumbstruck from Kaiden’s reaction.
“He…stood up for me…” I told her.
“He clearly likes you, Kaylyn!” She replied.
I sat down and sighed. What if he does like me? I was becoming paranoid, then saw a shadow pawning down on me.
It was him. Kaiden. Ugh…how many classes did we have together?
I stared up at him, at his perfect features, as he talked to the History teacher, Mr. Matt.
Something told me I wanted to know more about him. I sighed. I didn’t have a chance with him, I thought as I saw all the girls staring at him, even the ones who had boyfriends.
“Take a seat anywhere.” I heard Mr. Matt say to Kaiden.
He stumbled around and sat down beside me. I looked at Blossom Lynn, as she smirked and nudged my arm playfully. I rolled my eyes and they rested on a green invitation, peacefully lying on my desk.
I picked it up and read it. It said ‘Kaiden’s 19th Birthday Party!’
I thought about going, but it sounded like a bad idea. I didn’t even know this guy and he was inviting me to his birthday party?! Various things I could do to get to know him, but am I just wasting my time?
Something about him made me want him, but I know I couldn’t have him.
I looked at Blossom Lynn.
“Should I go?” I asked, showing the invitation.
“Yeah!” She exclaimed.
“Well, you’re coming with me!”
“YES!”
I giggled and glanced up at Kaiden. “Can I bring a friend?” I managed to ask and smiled. He looked like he was in a daze.
“Huh? Oh…okay,’ He replied.
“Okay, I’ll go.” T told him. He gave me a smile. I can tell he was about to burst with joy.
I thought about tonight. What would I wear? How would I even act? Was I becoming scared? Or even nervous?
