Iris woke up much earlier than usual to get ready for their meeting at the school's library at 7:15. She showered, got dressed, ate breakfast, and out the door.
Luna listens to her usual songs as she strolls through the September morning air. As she turns a corner, she spots two people standing by a fence not too far from her. She recognizes that signature red pleated skirt and blonde beach wave curls.
'Detour it is' Iris thought. Instead of turning the said corner, Iris continues walking through the intersection.
Today was much more different than any other day for Iris. Today was a bit better. Here are some reasons why:
1. The faces of demons weren't the first faces she gets to see in the morning.
2. This is the first time she got to walk to school for a long time.
3. She wouldn't get a headache first thing in the morning.
4. She had time to think of the possible ways she would die if they found out she ditched them.
Ok, maybe that last one wasn't so good. You see, Iris didn't tell her "friends" that she would be leaving for school much earlier than usual. But she saw an opportunity for new friends when she met the other four. She liked them and they seem to treat other people better than her current "friends".
Iris' idea of friends was limited to how her "friends" treat each other. She always changed herself into what she thinks pleased them. But when she was with the other four, she felt like she had freedom. Like whatever she wore or looked like didn't matter.
Iris got to school and headed to the bathroom like her usual mornings. She entered the bathroom and heard breathing. Like very loud deep breathing but not like those creepy ones you hear over the phone. Whoever was there were also saying stuff under their breath but was too muffled to be understood. Iris ignored it and fixed their makeup until Avery emerged from one of the stalls.
"Oh sorry, I didn't know someone was here. Umm did you hear that?" Avery said rubbing their nape. "Not if you don't want me to" "Whatever just..." Avery trailed off. "Nothing happened here," Avery said and walked out the bathroom.
Iris gathered her things and caught up to Avery. "Look I don't know what happened back there but my lips are sealed".
(Time skip to first period because I want to)
"Where were you?!" one of the demons asked Iris while they were waiting for their teacher. "I'm sorry. I forgot to give you guys a heads up that I was leaving early" Iris acted guilty. "If you didn't want to hang out with us then you should have said so". And as if on cue, the teacher entered the room and began class.
Her "friends" seemed to ignore her in every class she had with them. Even when she sat with them during lunch. 'Looks like I'll be walking to school from now on' she thought to herself pretending to care.

Didn't really liked this chapter. It seemed a bit bland and didn't really have that certain vagueness that I wanted and it seemed a bit straightforward. But I promise the next chapter will be better. This one is just to get rid of the demons but they might show up in later chapter/s👀
